It took Arsenal 22 years to win the Premier League.
Think about that for a moment. Twenty-two years of waiting, re-strategizing, handling criticism, enduring heartbreak, and pressing forward when everyone else had written them off.
If a football club can endure over two decades of processing and waiting to finally lift a trophy, why do we expect our life’s assignments to materialize overnight?
So many of us want the championship trophy, but we want to skip the 22 years of building the foundation. We want the victory lap, but we despise the training ground.
But God does not operate on a microwave timeline. He operates on a building timeline.
Scripture promises us in Isaiah 40:31:

"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Your current season of waiting is not wasted time; it is training time. The delay is not a denial from God; it is the development of your capacity. If God gave you the trophy today, do you have the stamina to defend it tomorrow?
Just like a long-awaited victory finally breaks through, God has a master plan for your life. Every single setback, every silent year, and every tear you’ve shed is being woven together for your ultimate good
(Romans 8:28).

Have you ever felt like God forgot to turn on the lights in your life?

Before we had smartphones and instant digital pictures, photographs had to be developed in a darkroom.
It was a tedious process; The photographer would take the film into a completely pitch-black room, submerge it in different chemical solutions,and wait.
Here was the golden rule of the darkroom: If you opened the door too early and exposed the film to light, the picture would be ruined forever. The image had to be fully developed in the dark before it could survive the light.

Some of you reading this feel like you are in the darkroom right now.
You feel hidden, You feel overlooked.
You’re watching other people step into the light, they are getting the promotions, stepping onto the big stages, finding the relationships and seeing their prayers answered.

Meanwhile, you are stuck in the background doing the unglamorous, heavy lifting that nobody claps for.
It is so easy to get frustrated and try to force the door open yourself.
You want the exposure
You want the manifestation

But what if God is keeping you in the darkroom on purpose?
What if He knows that if He exposes you to the light of success, influence or leadership before your character is fully developed, it will destroy you?
The delay you are experiencing right now is not a punishment,It is protection.

God is actively working on your character, discipline and your humility in the shadows so that when He finally opens the door, you have the capacity to handle the light.
Don't rush the darkroom. The picture He is developing in you is going to be a masterpiece.
Be Patient!

I noticed somethings in many Christian homes

Some parents pray for their children every morning…

But destroy those same children every afternoon with their words.

I remember a particular father in our area many years ago. A strict man. Deeply respected in church. Always active in prayer meetings. His children never missed Bible study.

But whenever he was angry, it was as if another person entered him.

One evening, his son mistakenly scratched his car while trying to move his bicycle from the compound.

It wasnt intentional

The boy was already trembling and apologizing before the father even came out of the house

But the father was furious.

In anger, he began to shout:
“Are you stupid?”
“You will never amount to anything!”
“You are a disappointment!”
“You always destroy things!”
“What kind of child are you?!”

The entire compound went silent

The boy said nothing.

He just stood there… nodding slowly… receiving every word.

Years later, that same boy became a young man who was afraid to try anything meaningful in life.

Every opportunity scared him.

Every mistake crushed him.

Even when people believed in him, he struggled to believe in himself.

Why?

Because many children eventually become what they consistently hear.

Sometimes, the greatest damage done to a child is not physical abuse…

It is repeated negative words spoken by trusted voices.

Dear parents,

Your anger may last five minutes…

But your words can remain in the heart of a child for twenty years.

The Bible says in Ephesians 4:29:

“Do not let any corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good for edification…”

Correction is necessary

Discipline is important

But never allow anger make you speak destruction over the destiny of your children

A child who constantly hears “you are useless” may eventually stop seeing value in himself.

A child who constantly hears “you can never do anything right” may grow up afraid of trying.

Your words are seeds.

Be careful what you plant in the hearts of your children

Some adults today are still trying to recover from words spoken over them when they were children.

May we not use our mouths to break what God has entrusted into our hands.

If people only follow you because of your position  You’re not leading; you’re controlling.

Titles can give you authority, but they cannot give you influence.

People may show up because they have to…
But real leadership is when they show up because they want to.

Think about it,
Have you ever worked with or under someone you respected deeply?
You didn’t just follow instructions… you gave your best
Not because you were forced but because you were inspired.

That’s the difference.

Control creates compliance
Leadership creates commitment and value.

When your leadership is built only on position:

People do the barest minimum
Trust is shallow
Loyalty disappears when the title is gone

But when your leadership is built on character, service and clarity:

People grow under you
Trust becomes natural
Your influence outlives your position

The goal is not to be in charge
The goal is to be worth following.

That is the essence of true leadership.
