Kogi Central Fc emerged champions of the 2024 Kogi State Football Association (FA) Cup after beating impressive FC. BAKO 1-4 in a blockbuster final that went down at the Confluence Stadium 🏟, Lọkọjá, Kogi State on Saturday, March 30th 2024.

On a beautiful afternoon, tens of thousands of soccer ⚽ lovers 💏 from within and outside the state Capital stormed the match venue in anticipation for the best of soccer ⚽ artistry.

Both teams did not disappoint when the whistle sounds as top dignitaries and stakeholders joined the rest of the spectators on seat 💺.

Kogi Central Fc who are making their debut in the state's prestigious football fiesta shocked book 📙 makers when they took off defending Champions, Kogi United Fc in the semis.

Fc Bako on their own made their way into the final after taking off Kogi United Fc Feeders.

With no popular names on the radar of the boys from central, it was pretty difficult for their opponents who had tasted more actions in the tourney to predict their approach.

Chairman, Kogi United Fc and Confluence Queens Fc, Hon Abdulmalik Isah Dolly however led other top sports stakeholders to perform the ceremonial kickoff.

And thereafter, it was time for some real soccer ⚽ business.

It was Kogi central Fc who set the tone for action and fans continuously chant in support of their respective teams.

After testing each other for over 20 minutes, it was the boys from central who asked the first major question when Emmanuel's goal bound header was parried off the crossbar by the goalie.

That was in fact a way to test the microphone 🎤 as the newcomers increasingly grew in rhythm.

In the 36 minutes, Usman Sheriff was roughly brought down in the box, penalty awarded, and opportunity presented itself for Kogi Central Fc to race into the lead.

Musa Alimi stepped forward, took it and scored to give his side the lead.

Fc Bako down, but not out as they tried to fight back.

The Reds however lack composure up front as their final third keeps failing them.

Kogi central Fc almost made it two in added time, but some brilliant goalkeeping from Fc Bako goalie denied Emmanuel once again.

That was the highpoint that wrapped up the first half as both teams took time out for some refreshing moment.

During the break, it was the bench of Fc Bako who looked busier as they planned a way back.

But the boys from the central part of the state had other ideas too.

They approached the second half more determined than the first half as they overran their opponents, pressing and counter pressing.

In the 52 minutes, Kogi Central Fc doubled the advantage from a set piece well planned by Dalhatu and Ismaila Abdulbasit did the ex*****on with simple toe in.

A shaky start to the second half for Fc Bako who lose concentration and total control defensively.

In the 70 minutes, Dalhatu turns sorcerer from provider as he scored a beauty of a goal from outside the box to make it 3 for his team and the stadium 🏟 erupted.

The technical crew of Fc Bako were challenged to make some quick substitutions and it almost yielded something positive.

They pulled one back in the 73 minutes with a well taken shot from 23 yard.

That goal gave Fc Bako a bit of lifeline with their fans chanting and believing the dream of a comeback.

That dream will soon be shattered by their foes who increased the tally for the fourth time.

Substitute, Onumoko Muhammad benefited from a poor clearance from Fc Bako goalie and calculatedly sends the ball ⚽ to the back of the net.

That goal obviously took the game beyond the reach of Fc Bako as Kogi central Fc deployed defensive tactics to wind the clock down.

1-4 final score, a courageous display from Kogi central Fc who will now represent the state alongside the runners-up at the national Federation Cup.

After the game, there were medal 🥉 presentation for match officials and all the participating teams.

Thereafter, the latest champions were presented the golden looking trophy 🏆 and it was celebrations galore.
