When you go to Paris, you aren't just facing a team; you are facing a hurricane of skill and pace. On nights like these, you need a 'lighthouse'—the person you look to when the storm gets too heavy to find your calm and confidence. And that person is Mohamed Salah.
Tactically, I understand Arne Slot's desire for caution, especially after that tough loss to Manchester City. Playing five at the back sounds logical in a meeting room, but on the pitch? You are pulling out your own teeth. Salah isn’t just a goalscorer; he is a 'constant threat' that forces the opponent to drop 20 yards deeper just out of fear. Have always tried to back Martin Zubimendi but now patience is fading away quickly. Yet again it was nowhere near a convincing performance from Zubimendi as he looked so slow to pass and close down Sporting players in midfield. Rice had to make up a lot of ground to cover some of Zubi's responsibilities. Almost played a dreadful pass to Raya similar to the one he did against Man Utd but this time Raya managed to clear the ball. 🫤

Though he produced a spectacular finish for a goal ruled out for offside, his overall impact on the game was dull. He has to get his sharpness back for rest of the games. 👍

If you’re blaming Vinícius Júnior for that miss, then you probably don’t understand what facing Manuel Neuer in a 1v1 is like.

Neuer’s masking and charge is so legendary. He makes himself so big and reads the attacker perfectly.

It’s one of the hardest situations to score from.

Only someone with the clinical edge of Cristiano Ronaldo consistently finishes chances like that.

Neuer is just an incredible goalkeeper.
