*APPEAL FOR COOPERATION & DISPLAY OF SPORTSMANSHIP*

As the Christian Youth in Politics Football Competition kicks off this Sunday, 30th November, 2025, extend a heartfelt appeal to the entire Football Family of Langtang North and, by extension, the proud Tarok Nation.

Football has always been more than a game for us, it is a powerful force that unites us, strengthens brotherhood, and ignites the spirit of togetherness.

I appeal to us to celebrate talent, passion, and youthful energy, remembering that the beauty of football lies in the joy it brings, not in rivalry or hooliganism.

On behalf of the Board, and the Football Family, let me remind all players, fans, and supporters that football is not a do-or-die affair.

Victory is sweet, but honour, respect, and fair play define true champions. Let the pitch be a place where excellence is displayed, friendships are built, and character is shown.

We encourage all teams to compete with dignity, accept outcomes with grace, and uphold the values that make our football one of pride and admiration.

As the matches commence, let us collectively reject hooliganism, violence, intimidation, and any act capable of tarnishing the image of the Organizers who are leveraging on the unifying power of football to promote the gospel of Christ.

We urge coaches, supporters, and various leaders to help uphold an atmosphere of peace, joy, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

May this competition strengthen our unity as a people and serve as a reminder that when we play together, we win together both on and off the field.

Remember the three possible outcome of football: you win some, you lose some and you draw some.

*Langtang North Amateur Football Association (LAFA) Extends Deep Appreciation to Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem for ₦3 Million Support; Players Promise Outstanding Performance*

The Langtang North Amateur Football Association (LAFA), under the leadership of its Chairman, Amb. Miri Timnan Nyantau (M.T.N), has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Chairman of Langtang North, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, for releasing the first tranche of ₦3,000,000 to support the team’s participation in the Governor’s Cup.

This marks the first of such direct interventions, and the gesture has been warmly received by the entire football family in the Local Government.

Hon. Tyem directed that ₦30,000 be given to each of the 25 players to purchase boots, while the remaining funds are to be used for logistics, feeding, and other essential needs of players, coaches, and officials.

He further assured that additional funding will be provided as the team advances to the next stage of the tournament.

Sharing the joyful news with the squad in Jos on Tuesday, 18th November, 2025, the LAFA Chairman urged the players to repay the Chairman’s confidence and generosity with an exceptional performance on the field.

Amb. Nyantau, who also doubles as the National President of Tarok Progressive Youth Association, (TAPYA), the umbrella body of Tarok Youth Worldwide, reminded the players that they carry the pride of the Tarok nation.

He encouraged them to be exemplary ambassadors through their conduct and character, noting that every action on and off the pitch reflects on the image of the Tarok people.

To add motivation, he promised to host both the Langtang North and Langtang South teams to a celebratory dinner provided they record victories in their matches.

The technical crew and players, visibly moved by the support, expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman, Hon Pirfa Jingfa Tyem

The Chairman who owns Bhuzu FC was described as a passionate football administrator.

They pledged to give their all, “soaking their socks” in commitment, and vowed to represent not just Langtang North but the entire Tarok nation with honour.

Langtang North will open their campaign tomorrow at 4 p.m., taking on neighbouring Wase Local Government in what promises to be a thrilling “battle of two brothers” at St. Murumba College, Jos. They will later face Jos East and Jos North in subsequent group matches.

*LAFA Announces The Passing Away Of 3 Players, Serious Injury To Another 4 In Separate Fatal Accidents With 5 Days*

Tragedy has struck Langtang North Amateur Football Association (LAFA), following the passing away of three players and serious injury to another four within the past five days

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of Plateau State Football Association, PFA, Hon Dr. Prince Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, dated July, 7, 2025, LAFA Chairman, Amb. Miri Timnan Nyantau (M.T.N), gave the details of the sad happenings in a letter titled:*A WEEK OF TRAGEDY: LAFA MOURN THE PASSING AWAY OF 3 FOOTBALLERS IN SEPARATE FATAL ACCIDENTS AND THE SERIOUS INJURIES OF ANOTHER 4*

"I write with deep pains and a heart shattered by grief to inform you that within the last 5 days, the Langtang North Amateur Football Association (LAFA) has sadly lost three (3) of her players in different incident and fatal accidents"

Providing more details, the LAFA Chairman said "Nimnan Dallang, a former invitee to the Nation's U-13 died in Lagos. While still making efforts to compliment the parents efforts to convey his remains home from Lagos, by constituting a Committee to solicit for funds, a series of tragedy struck"

Further more, "Praise Finbong of Mban Ward participating in the ongoing LAFA Cup lost his life in an accident. Yesterday, Tangtur Promise Benedict, currently playing for Kwanpe Ward in the LAFA Cup had a separate accident and died too"

"To cap a week of misery for LAFA, Pil-Gani Ward players were involved in another accident after their match yesterday. The accident which occurred inside Pil, when they have even gotten to their home town left 4 players seriously injured with some having fractures and are currently at the Langtang General Hospital" the letter concluded

While praying for the repose of the souls of the departed players, and speedy recovery to the fractured players, LAFA in concluding the letter to PFA said "is for your information and further necessary action"

OFFICIAL: Assaulting referees in Italy may now lead to up to 16 years in prison

On June 19, the Italian Council of Ministers approved an amendment to Article 583-4 of the “Sports Law,” officially recognizing referees as “public officials.”

Going forward, anyone who assaults a referee during a match could face up to 16 years in prison.

The amendment, approved by the Council of Ministers, equates referees (and “other personnel ensuring the technical compliance of sports events”) with public officials. Although the proposal had existed for some time, it was the firm advocacy of Italian Referees Association (AIA) President Antonio Zappi that pushed it forward, with the support of Sports Minister Andrea Abodi, ultimately leading to its inclusion in the Sports Law.

Under the new rules, those who commit violence against referees will face the following penalties:

• Minor injuries: 2 to 5 years in prison

• Serious injuries: 4 to 10 years in prison

• Severe injuries: 8 to 16 years in prison

AIA President Antonio Zappi said:

“I’m extremely happy and moved by the passage of this historic law. Protection for referees has finally been written into the Penal Code. I sincerely thank Minister Abodi, the government, and all those who supported this civilizing battle — regardless of their political affiliation.”
