A reason to smile again 🙂

After her 100m campaign at the World U20 Championships ended in the heats, Lucy Nwankwo had to put the disappointment behind her and turn her focus to the women’s 4x100m.

Running the opening leg, she teamed up with Rosemary Nwankwo, Tejiri Ugoh and Miracle Ezechukwu to secure Nigeria’s place in the women’s 4x100m final.

She picked herself up, showed up, and delivered for Nigeria.

How special it is to see four MTN CHAMPS stars representing Nigeria together on the world stage. 🥹

The 🇳🇬 Quartet of Lucy Nwankwo, Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo, Tejiri Ugoh & Miracle Ezechukwu did their big one in the qualifying round of the Women’s 4x100m.

They grabbed the last automatic qualifying spot, running 43.65s to secure Nigeria’s place in the women’s 4x100m final at the World U20 Championships in Eugene.

SHE IS THE NOW AND THE FUTURE! 🇳🇬🔥

Nigeria looked to be heading outside the automatic qualifying spots for the women’s 4x100m final at the World U20 Championships, but Miracle Oluebube said “NOT ON MY WATCH!”

She produced an outrageous 9.81s anchor split 🤯 to sn**ch the third automatic qualifying spot for Nigeria in a Season’s Best of 43.65s.

Never count Miracle out! 🔥

The young Nigerian athlete reflects on her ex*****on in the heats and the challenges she faced going into the race.

Despite not being in her best shape, Nwankwo pushed herself in the heats, but ended up missing out on a place in the semifinals.

Lucy Nwankwo clocked 11.77s to finish 5th in her women’s 100m heat at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene.

While she won’t advance to the semifinals, she can be proud of representing Nigeria on the world stage and gaining invaluable experience.

Teams MTN’s Lucy Nwankwo has been named as part of the Nigerian Team for the World Athletics U20 Championships, commencing next week in Oregon, USA.

Last month in Dakar, at the CAA U18/U20 Region II Championships, Nwankwo won Two GOLD medals 🥇🥇 for Nigeria in the U20 100m and 200m - a performance that earned her selection for the World U20 Championships.

First time at the Commonwealth Games, and she started with a victory 👏

Miracle Ezechukwu couldn’t have asked for a better start to her Commonwealth Games debut.

The Nigerian athlete won her women’s 100m heat, clocking 11.32s (-1.5) from Lane 8 to automatically advance into the semifinals.

Since then, she has:
◾️helped Nigeria qualify for Beijing 2027 World Championships in the women’s 4x100m
◾️reached the 100m final at her first African Senior Championships
◾️lowered her 100m PB to 11.15s
◾️earned selection for the Commonwealth Games.

What a season Miracle has had so far! 👏

When the hype matches the performance. 🔥👏

The U20 Women’s 100m Final at MTN CHAMPS Season 4 Grand Final in Ibadan remains one of the most exciting sprint finals of the season.

It was a fiercely contested race that ended with Ejiro Peter taking the title 🥇 in 11.39s, ahead of Chigozie Rosemary 🥈(11.48s) and Lucy Nwankwo🥉 (11.57s).

All the athletes in this race ran under 12s, highlighting the incredible depth of talent that was on display.
