Adejola Afolabi emerges the champion of the Shebah Schools closed chess championship in the senior category gets a world best seller book written by our very own star FM Adewumi Tanitoluwa while Adedipe Adeife won the second place after a fastest finger tiebreak over Ayomide Oyewole and Kiva Okpoudhu.
Anarosa Adun won the gold in the junior category while Miracle Oyetosho and Kikiayo Filani came 2nd and 3rd respectively.
This was a rapid tournament with 5rounds and a 15minutes time control for both categories at Shebah Schools located at Nelson Nweke Zone, Magodo.
The icing of the cake was the top prize which was a book written by the legendary Nigerian born US citizen FM Adewumi Tanitoluwa titled My Name is Tani.
The tournament was fun having to see parents come watch and support their children. The parents where also introduced to chess and were opportune to compete against one another in a game called fastest fingers. The parents only have to arrange the chess pieces and the fastest to arrange correctly becomes the winner.
The school director is determined to grow the chess culture in the school knowing the benefits of the game to the pupils at large cannot be over emphasized.
