SAME FOOD, DIFFERENT PORTIONS, DIFFERENT CALORIES!
This is for those planning to “wound” themselves with food this season. I know it’s the festive season and there’s going to be lots to eat, but please don’t forget your home training because of food o!😩

We say this all the time here that Portion control is very important for weight loss and maintenance. Also, if you notice that your stomach is bigger than it should be, check your portions!

We wish you a joyful December. There are other ways to enjoy yourself this season; Spend time with family, learn something new, make new memories with your loved ones, enjoy a new activity, read a new book, network and make new friends, skip the “wounding” this year. 😌

Refined sugar has NO NUTRITIONAL benefits for the body, the body does not need it to survive, yet we consume it knowingly and unknowingly in large quantities! The American Health Assistant (AHA) suggests a sugar limit of NO MORE THAN 100 calories per day (about 6 teaspoons or 24 grams of sugar) for most women and no more than 150 calories per day (about 9 teaspoons or 36 grams of sugar) for most men.

Caught myself checking the mirror today after my workout to see if I could see any progress. 🙈
I had to remind myself of one word ladies and gentlemen: PATIENCE.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, you didn’t gain the weight in one day, you certainly wouldn’t lose it with one workout 😁 just remain consistent and patient and your results will certainly follow, we promise! 😉

JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE EATING SALADS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE EATING HEALTHY!

If you’ve ever been to a salad 🥗 bar, you may have been tempted to load up on all the delicious toppings available! But doing so may be the reason why you’ve been on a salad diet but you’re still gaining weight!

Here’s a list of things that people usually add to their salads that take them from healthy to unhealthy real quick!

1. Nigerians do this thing where they add milk and sugar to their salad creams! Stop it! 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ You’ve just made your 250 calories salad into a 800-1000 calories meal!

2. Adding loads of cheese to your salads is doing more harm than good!

3. Nuts; it is ok to add SOME lightly roasted peanuts, almonds or pecans to your salad but adding a handful of sugar/honey coated nuts to your salads could be damaging.

4. Fried proteins: garnish you salads with f”grilled, roasted or boiled protein to keep it nutritious and lower in calories.

5. Spoonfuls of Heavy creamy dressings! Opt for oil based dressings like olive oil, or light vinaigrette, hummus or you could make yours.

6. Adding chips and heaps of croutons (oven roasted bread pieces) to your salads are counterproductive!

My two cents: adding any of the above in small quantities might not do much ‘damage’ especially if it is not a regular occurrence in your diet.
Avoid adding a large combination of the above to your salads unless you do not mind gaining a few extra pounds.
