FOOTBALL HAS A CRUEL MEMORY SOMETIMES
As Arsenal led 1-0 to PSG in the Champions League final, the cameras caught Thierry Henry in the stands. An image that immediately recalled a painful memory to the Gunners fans.
In 2006, Arsenal also led 1-0 in the final against Barcelona, with Henry on the field. And yet the dream had flown away. Twenty years later, history seems to repeat itself: Arsenal start ahead, but finally sees another club lift the trophy.
This time Henry wasn't Man of the Match, but his look said it all. Frustration, hope, then disappointment. As if fate still refused to offer him that Cup to the big ears that he so deserved with Arsenal.
Thierry Henry alone embodies generations of Gunners supporters: always close to the top, but always deprived of the ultimate moment.
So close to the dream... and yet so far away.
