Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, I stand before you to talk about a topic that lies at the very core of our existence: purpose and ambition. Each one of us has been blessed with the incredible gift of life, and we must make the most of this precious opportunity. We are not meant to merely exist; we are meant to thrive, create, and leave a lasting impact on the world.

Being purposeful and ambitious is not an option; it is a necessity if we want to live a life of fulfilment and significance. Purpose provides us with direction, a guiding light that illuminates our path and helps us navigate the challenges that come our way. It is the driving force that fuels our actions and keeps us focused on our goals.

Ambition, on the other hand, is the fire that burns within us. It is the relentless desire to achieve something great, to push the boundaries of what is possible, and to leave a legacy that inspires others. Ambition is not about selfish gains; it is about striving for excellence and using our talents and abilities to make a positive difference in the world.

But let me tell you, the road to purpose and ambition is not an easy one. It requires dedication, perseverance, and a relentless work ethic. There will be obstacles, failures, and moments of self-doubt along the way. But it is during these times that our true character is tested, and our commitment to our purpose is reaffirmed.

Remember, success is not measured solely by material possessions or societal recognition. True success lies in the lives we touch, the lives we transform, and the positive change we bring about. It is about making a meaningful contribution to the world and leaving it a better place than we found it.

So, my friends, I urge you to embrace your purpose and unleash your ambition. Dream big, set audacious goals, and never be afraid to pursue them. Believe in your abilities and the power that lies within you. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who will support and uplift you on your journey.

Don't let fear hold you back. Failure is not the end; it is merely a stepping stone to success. Learn from your mistakes, adapt, and keep moving forward. Remember that setbacks are temporary, but the lessons and growth you gain from them are permanent.

In the pursuit of purpose and ambition, never lose sight of your values and integrity. Stay true to who you are, and let your actions be guided by honesty, compassion, and respect. Success without character is meaningless, and the impact we make on others is far more important than personal achievements.

In conclusion, my friends, being purposeful and ambitious is not a luxury, but a responsibility. We have been given the gift of life, and we must make it count. Embrace your purpose, chase your dreams, and never settle for anything less than extraordinary. The world is waiting for your greatness, so go out there and make it happen!

Thank you.

My pastoral journey was an age-long and almost mission-impossible desire. My Father was right when he said, if it is God that has called me to become a Pastor, it will come easily.

Just like he said, it did come at a time I was not ready for pastoral assignments. I had become a firefighter in unionism, so I was not seeing the Pastor side of me anymore. You should understand the kind of society that we are in. Pastors are always expected to be meek, I mean very meek and slow to react.

But for me, I have become “the kingdom of God suffers violence and the righteous takes it by force.” Or how many Nigerian Pastors have you seen in a protest?

I became a Pastor at Living Faith Church, also known as Winners’ Chapel. This was during Pastor David Karim’s pastoral assignment in the Living Faith Church branch, Ganmo, Kwara State.

Usually, I was something like the stage boy. I love being on stage and educating people was always a great privilege for me. In church as well, I had the opportunity to be on stage. Sometimes, I would be allowed to take offerings, and welcome first-timers, among many others.

On this day, I was allowed to read out the names of newly elected church officials. While I was reading out the names of people to be ordained, I mentioned my name before I knew it was my name.

I was shocked. It was very obvious that I was. Everyone could see it. After the service, I went to the Pastor. I told him I was not ready. But, Pastor Karim wasn’t going to listen to me. He said it was an instruction from God that he could not overlook.

Now, I remember my Mother once donated me to God and, I was so desperate about travelling abroad to attend Bible School. The fire was never out, just that I grew up with a new way of being a Pastor. I figured that if I cannot be a Pastor in working for God in the church, I could be an active comrade and work for God on the street. It was time for me to come back to church.

WEDLOCK OF NATURE [POEM]

The day I’ll never forget
Memories unfold
The wedlock of nature’s giant

The day nature made love in the open

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

The sun, the moon
They made love naked

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

Across the nation, it was parroted
Agogo, shekere, dundu, ilu, everybody
Gathers to celebrate at Shaki
The wedlock of nature

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

The bed was laid, with fine linen
Roses, velvet,
Flowers of many colours
Right here in our sky, we beheld it

The stage was set
Many gazed through the open
Viewing the wonders of nature
The wedlock of the moon and the sun

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

Queens and their hubbies
Nobles and their heroines
Commoners and their damsels
All gathered together in their royal apparel
To grace the wedlock of the millennium

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

The marriage was consummated
They made swift honey of the moon
At Shaki

Right here in our sky, we beheld it
It was dramatic,
It was romantic,
It was hilarious

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

The moon kissed the sun
The sun was naked, and so also the moon
The moon drew herself back,
The sun stood still with plenty of smiles

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

The moon climbed the static sun
The sun erected hardly
So hard and bright
Don’t look!!! They cautioned

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

They covered themselves with the blanket
There was darkness in Shaki

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

What is it you call it
Eclipse of the moon and the sun?

Nay! The lo******ng of the sun and the moon too

Right here in our sky, we beheld it

THE POEM WAS WRITTEN BY D. K EHINDERO as a dedication to the year 2006 eclipse experience in Shaki, Nigeria that attracted the world's attention.

Agogo, shekere, dundu, ilu. They are musical instruments used by the Yoruba natives of Nigeria.
Shaki is a town in the Western part of Nigeria.
Analysis of wedlock of nature:

The poem narrated the feelings that spread around the people of a particular town in the western part of Nigeria. The event that took place in the year 2006 is referred to by the poet as the wedlock of nature. Each of the poems described the beauty of the sun and the moon, the people of Shaki, and the memory that lingers on. The poet also brought to play traditional instruments such as Agogo, Shekere, dundu, and ilu into the picture. This created a festival feeling and also attracted almost every class of society. The poet accounted that, “Queens and their hubbies” “Nobles and their heroines” and “Commoners and their damsels” were all gathered.

The poet also employed the use of romantic terms to elucidate how the scene of the event was. Terms such as “marriage”, “kissed”, “naked”, and “plenty of smiles” were used to create an imaginary attachment to the eclipse.

With this poem, the poet was able to establish that nature and natural phenomena had a stronghold on the people. The presence of people of different social classes who had gathered indicated that nature doesn’t pick sides. It makes itself available to all, regardless of class. The poet was also able to educate in a relatable way those who might have never experienced Eclipse. However, the poet believed it was more than worthy enough to be called Eclipse, rather, “the lo******ng of the sun and the moon”
