NFF Crisis: ‘The Statutes Are Not Sustainable’ Sani Toro Demands Major Overhaul Of Nigerian Football Governance

Former NFA Secretary-General Sani Toro is calling for a complete overhaul of Nigerian football governance, arguing that changing the people in charge will not be enough if the system itself remains the same.

Toro says the current NFF statutes have concentrated too much power in the hands of a few and must be reviewed before another election is held.

His key message: Nigeria needs to fix the system before choosing new leaders.

He also wants stronger representation for clubs, players, coaches, referees and other stakeholders at both national and state levels, while ensuring any reforms comply with FIFA and CAF regulations.

With the NFF leadership now resigned and a wider reform process underway, Toro believes Nigeria has a rare opportunity to rebuild its football administration from the ground up.

The question is: Should Nigeria reform the system before holding another NFF election?

🏀 D’Tigers Fall Again as South Sudan Secure Narrow Win 🇳🇬

D’Tigers suffered their second straight defeat in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 African Qualifiers, falling 82–79 to South Sudan in a thrilling encounter.

Nigeria fought back from an 11-point first-quarter deficit and even took a five-point lead in the third, but South Sudan held their nerve in the closing stages to seal the victory.

Josh Okogie led Nigeria with 14 points and 8 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
