๐จ BREAKING: Following widespread global backlash and growing opposition from stakeholders across the football community, FIFA has officially reversed its decision and confirmed that it will not move forward with plans to accept external investors through the FIFA Forward Enterprise project. ๐โ ๏ธ
In an official statement, FIFA explained that the initiative was originally designed to strengthen its Member Associations and support the development of football worldwide, particularly in countries requiring greater financial assistance.
The governing body also reiterated that the proposal would only move ahead if it received majority backing from FIFA Member Associations after extensive consultations with the FIFA Council, Confederations, and other key stakeholders.
However, after reviewing the feedback, FIFA acknowledged that the proposal had become a source of significant division. It concluded that, regardless of the level of support it received, proceeding with the project would no longer serve its original objective.
FIFA emphasized that its mission has always been to unite and advance the global game rather than create division.
As a result, the organization has decided to withdraw the proposal. FIFA President Gianni Infantino added that discussions will continue with all interested parties in the coming weeks to explore other ways of growing football globally, with a particular focus on supporting nations that need it most.
