So Lagos happened and I am still not over it 😭

I went for We Move Summit, got nominated for Personal Trainer of the Year (female category) and yes I didn’t win but honestly? I am so grateful I was even seen at all.

But that was not even the highlight of my weekend.

The highlight was meeting Auntie Kate Henshaw in person. This woman is even more beautiful and full of life when you see her face to face. I walked up to her and told her she has been a huge inspiration to me, especially doing this fitness work in a space that is mostly men. I needed her to know that.

Then during her speech for Fitness Influencer of the Year, she called my name. Haaaa as in Oluchukwu o 😆
She referenced something I said earlier and I honestly did not know whether to laugh or cry or just run out of the building 🤣🤣🤣

After the event I got to chat with her briefly and when she told me I am already on the right path, it just renewed my courage completely.

There is something about hearing words of encouragement from someone you have looked up to for so long. It does not just motivate you, it settles something deep inside your heart.

No trophy came home with me but something far better did.

Going back home 🤍

In 2013, I came to Ibadan - young, finding my way and the Dominican Community opened their doors to me. Their library, their space, their people. They gave me room to grow, to study, to become.

I literally grew up there. My young adult years? Built within those walls.

So when I was called to come and lead a group fitness class for the brothers at the Dominican Community, I didn’t just show up as a fitness trainer.

I showed up as a daughter of that community. Coming home. 🥹

And oh, we had SO much fun. 😭🤍 Training the brothers, moving together, laughing together, I felt honored. I felt alive. I felt full.

There is something so sacred about being poured into by people and then one day getting to pour back. They trained my mind, I got to train their bodies. And somewhere in that exchange, I felt everything become full circle.

This is why I do what I do. Fitness is never just about the body, it’s about community, about people, and about showing up for those who once showed up for you.

Thank you, Dominican Family. Coming home never felt so good. 🙏🏽✨

My heart is honestly full.

Since sharing the feedback from the Guinness World Record attempt, the amount of love, encouragement, prayers, kind words, reposts, messages, and support I have received has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way.

Thank you for seeing the journey beyond just a title.

Thank you for recognizing the discipline, resilience, courage, preparation, sacrifices, pain, healing, sleepless nights, and determination that went into this attempt.

To my steppers, thank you for standing beside me, stepping with me, motivating me, and bringing your strength and energy into this dream.

To the medical team, thank you for caring for me, supporting my recovery, and helping me push through physically demanding moments.

After months of preparation, sacrifice, training, injuries, sleepless nights, and determination, I officially completed a 24-hour, 30-minute step aerobics session in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Step Aerobics Lesson.

I received feedback from Guinness World Records that I will not be awarded the record title at this time because the rest time in two segments exceeded the permitted time by one minute.

While the title was not awarded, my spirit is not broken.

This journey was always about something bigger than a title for me.

It was about pushing beyond limits.
It was about choosing courage over fear.
It was about showing women, especially mothers and everyday women carrying invisible battles, that they are capable of far more than they think.

On that platform, I carried purpose, pain, discipline, hope, and the memory of my brother. And despite every challenge, I finished.

We stepped for 24 hours and 30 minutes.
We created awareness around cardiovascular health.
We built community.
We inspired people.
We proved that impossible things can still be attempted.

To everyone who supported me, prayed for me, donated, stepped with me, encouraged me, checked on me, reposted, and believed in this dream, thank you deeply. You became part of a story that I will carry proudly for the rest of my life.

There’s a part of every big dream people rarely see.

The pain.
The setbacks.
The quiet moments where you wonder if your body will even allow you continue.

About six weeks before the GWR attempt, my right big toe got badly infected. It became swollen, painful, and impossible to train properly with. I had to pause training for weeks, go to the hospital to have it drained, and keep returning for wound dressing while trying to recover.

For a while, even walking normally became difficult.

But life did not pause.

I was still a mother first.
Still waking up early.
Still preparing my children for school.
Still showing up for responsibilities.
Still trying to train from home however I could.

There were sleepless nights.
There was frustration.
There were moments I felt behind.

And even on the event day, my toe was still not fully healed.

But I knew one thing: I did not come this far to allow one difficult season stop me completely.

This journey taught me that resilience is not always loud. Sometimes resilience looks like limping into purpose anyway. Sometimes it looks like trying again after pain. Sometimes it looks like carrying fear, exhaustion, responsibility, and still choosing not to quit.

One of the biggest mistakes people make with home workouts is changing exercises every few days and expecting their body to improve.

Your body needs time to learn a movement, adapt to it, and build strength from it.

Instead of constantly searching for something new, stick with a routine for a few weeks. Increase your reps gradually, improve your form, and let your body adjust properly.

Simple, consistent training will always beat random workouts done once in a while.

That’s how you build progress without stressing your body or increasing your risk of injury.

You do not need 10 different exercises every day to see results.

Pick simple movements that target the major areas:

Push movement: Push ups
Pull movement: Rows
Leg movement: Squats, glute bridges, or step-ups
Core movement: crunches, twists, or bicycle kicks

Build your routine around these and stay with it for 3 to 4 weeks before changing anything.

The goal is not to keep searching for something new every day. The goal is to build a system your body can adapt to and one you can stay consistent with.

Simple. Structured. Sustainable.

POV: coaching my expat clients has taken me beyond borders 🌍

What started as “my clients’ playlist” turned into me catching the vibe, learning the rhythm, and creating a whole step routine inspired by them. 🇱🇧

One thing I truly enjoy about coaching women from different parts of the world is how fitness becomes more than workouts. It becomes connection, culture, energy, and shared experiences.

So this routine is my little tribute to my amazing expat clients who unknowingly expanded my playlist and my creativity 🤗❤️

And honestly? This might be one of my favorite routines yet.
