After training today, in Our usual solidarity manner, We went to Sandra Hospital, Makurdi to identify with Our Midfielder; Miss Racheal Owojori who has been down with fever recently.

We offered prayers of thanksgiving to God for the fast recovering progress. We are happy She's healing fast and hope to have Her back in action amongst Us in a short possible time. An injury to One of Us is an injury to All of Us.

Fixture: Benue Queens FC vs.Rivers Angels FC Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Matchday 6.

It was a thrilling showdown yesterday as despite putting up a spirited fight in Our NWFL Premiership Matchday 6 fixture against Rivers Angels, the visitors emerged victorious with a 2-0 win at Lafia City Stadium. The match, which kicked off at 1:07 PM—slightly behind schedule—saw Our Queen's dominating the first half with relentless attacking play but struggled to convert their chances.

First Half was a missed opportunity for Us as from the opening whistle, We took the game to Rivers Angels, pressing high and creating several goal-scoring opportunities. Our attacking intent was clear, with the midfield linking well with the forward line to trouble the visitors’ defense. However, despite Our frequent forays into the opposition’s half, luck was not on Our side, as We failed to find the back of the net. Rivers Angels, on the other hand, held firm, absorbing the pressure and maintaining a solid defensive shape.

As the first half progressed, Our Queen's remained the dominant force but lacked the finishing touch needed to break the deadlock. The halftime whistle blew with the score still goalless, leaving Us not contented but hopeful for a breakthrough in the second half.

Rivers Angels capitalize on key momentarely as barely two minutes after the restart, in the 47th minute, a moment of controversy shifted the momentum in favor of Rivers Angels as Our defensive midfielder, Owojori Racheal, in an attempt to challenge for the ball inside the 16-yard box, was adjudged to have committed a foul. Though the tackle appeared innocuous, the referee deemed it a penalty, much to the dismay of the home fans. Rivers Angels’ captain, Ifeoma Polinus, stepped up and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Stella Okereke to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Despite conceding, Our Queen's refused to back down. They intensified their search for an equalizer, pushing their defensive line higher up the pitch to support the attack. Their determination was evident as they launched wave after wave of attacks, forcing Rivers Angels’ defense into desperate clearances.

Why We threw numbers forward, Our defense was unstable and again, in the 78th minute, Rivers Angels on a fast left wing run made Mary Moses shoot up high the ball into the net doubling the visitors’ lead and effectively sealing the game.

STELLA OKEREKE AND REGINA OKWUBE'S HEROICS IN GOAL/DEFENSE LINE'S:
Though We ultimately conceded twice, Our goalkeeper Stella Okereke and Regina Okwube were the standout performer's for the team and the whole match. Why Stella made several spectacular save's throughout the match, preventing more goal chances for the visitor's as Her reflexes and positioning kept Our team in contention, particularly in the second half when Rivers Angels began to exploit the defensive gaps left by Our defenders as they pushed forward aiming to support goal scouting chances. Equally, Regina's stunning nod out's were outstanding given the back much needed defensive confident that stopped more moves past the line for goals.

Our Queen's may have fallen short on the day, but their determination and resilience suggest that brighter days are ahead for Us.

In the next NWFL matchday seven(7) which will be played on the 26th of February 2025, Our Queen's will visit top contenders in Group B' Naija Ratels FC at Bwari City Stadium, Abuja.
