➡️ Ben Jacobs reports that Liverpool have tabled a better offer for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
The total package is now around €90m, with talks ongoing over add-ons.
Sporting directors Richard Hughes and Markus Krosche hope an agreement can be reached this weekend or early next week. All parties are confident that the negotiations have been concluded.
Ekitike is eager to join Liverpool, having agreed a six-year deal with the Reds.
➡️ Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool are still in the market for Isak, should Newcastle change their minds on the matter, in his latest YouTube video.
It's a saga that could continue for a while, but in the meantime Liverpool are already chasing Hugo Ekitike. He's someone who is on the club's radar at the moment, and the Reds could be open to bringing in both Ekitike and Isak, with Richard Hughes in particular appreciating the versatility of both players.
Isak remains Liverpool's dream target and someone the club have been keen to sign for almost a decade, ever since he emerged at AIK in Sweden.
Michael Edwards in particular is a fan of the striker, and he has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign him to replace Darwin Nunez in the summer of 2022.
