BOOK REVIEWS ALERT!!!!!!

*TITLE*: "I married you" (Part 1)

*AUTHOR*: Walter Trobisch

*Introduction*

Walter Trobisch and his wife Ingrid Trobisch worked for many years in Africa. They specialized in lecturing on marriage. From the book we discover that marriage challenges are universal and not perculiar to a tribe or people. No race is immune to it.

The book is fast moving, action packed, and easy to read. It is fresh and free of biases. It's a very practical Christian approach to s*x and marriage.

We'll be reveiwing the book character by character. That way we'll be able to relate to them personally and learn from them.

Walter Trobisch, the author is married to Ingrid Trobisch and they have 5 children with a very thriving ministry.

Most times, he does the travelling for programs while his wife stays behind to attend to the children; but she joined him at any opportunity they got.

Like in this programme (where our story unfolds), his wife joined him on the third day and they flew back to another programme the next day.

At that moment, almost out of nowhere, Kathryn Kuhlman appeared.

In an instant, the atmosphere in that building became charged. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't feel anything around me. No voices. No heavenly angels singing. Nothing. All I knew was that I had been shaking for three hours.

Then, as the singing began, I found myself doing something I never expected. I was on my feet. My hands were lifted, and tears streamed down my face as we sang "How Great Thou Art."

WHICH JESUS DID YOU RECEIVE?

“For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough” 2Cor 11:4 (NIV).

Apostle Paul made a profound statement about his purpose as a Christian: “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering being made conformable unto His death” Phil 3:10. His desire was to know and experience all that Christ comprised of/stood for/represented.
Now let’s take a closer look at Paul’s determined purpose:
That I may know him - that I may progressively become more like him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of his person more strongly and more clearly (Amplified). Who is the person of Jesus that Paul wanted to know? Matt 1:21 gives us an insight: “And His name shall be called Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins”. Also scriptures proclaim in 2Cor 5:21 that “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God”. SO IF YOU BELIEVE IN THIS JESUS PAUL PREACHED, YOU CANNOT BE COMFORTABLE LIVING IN SIN. JESUS SAVES FROM SIN.

Paul’s appetite was so strong that he wanted to know and benefit from the power Christ’s resurrection gave us. Jesus died for our sins (Isa53:6, Jn1:29, Heb9:26), but he resurrected for our justification (Rom 4:25). Justification means to treat something as if the record is wiped clean once and for all. Amplified version paints the picture so vividly “making our account balance and absolving us from all guilt before God”. So, God did not just say “I forgive you”; he also said “I remember your sins no more”. He does not impute your sin to you; He imputes it on His son. We now owe our lives to Christ Jesus who bore our sins; we need to die to sin and live our lives in righteousness to please him (1pet2:24). ANY GOSPEL THAT PREACHES THAT YOUR LIFE IS YOURS AND YOU CAN LIVE AS YOU PLEASE IS NOT THE GOSPEL THE APOSTLES HANDED OVER TO US.

Secondly, Rom 8:11 says “And if the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies through his spirit who lives in you”(NIV). By this scripture we can boldly lay hold to life and health even when the devil challenges our physical bodies. JESUS’ RESURRECTION GUARANTEED THAT FOR US.

Paul’s desire was not just to enjoy all the provisions that salvation in Christ brought, neither will he only take pleasure in the justification, dominion and power Christ’s rising conferred on a believer.
Paul wanted to “so share his sufferings as to be continually transformed (in spirit into His likeness even) to his death, (in the hope) that if possible I may attain to the (spirit and moral) resurrection (that lifts me) out from among the dead (even while in the body) Phil 3:10-11 (Amplified).
We might be tempted to say that this was Paul’s personal choice and we don’t have to make the same choices. But remember scriptures said of Jesus, that “Although he was a son, he learned (active, special) obedience through what He suffered. And, (His completed experience) making Him perfectly (equipped), he became the Author and source of eternal salvation to all those who give heed and obey Him” Heb 5:8-9 (Amplified).
Jesus learned obedience through those experiences and they better perfected him to fulfill His purpose. That is why today, we have a high priest who has gone through the same pain as we do (Heb 4:14-16). He is pleading with the father daily, on our behalf; such that we can boldly come to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace for our time of need.
So, while we are here on earth representing Christ, he left us with an instruction “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Luke 9:23 (KJV). Are we willing to obey? We can only learn total Obedience to God by following Jesus steps.

In conclusion, may we be reminded that Jesus died for something bigger than that Mansion or Limousine or multi-million naira contract you are asking for. They are not bad in themselves UNTIL THEY BECAME THE ONLY REASON WE CAME TO Christ. He died to give us hope, a hope that still lives on when the ephemeral things of this world aren't seen anymore.
A hope that gives our faith in Him such solid anchor which the storms and winds in the world cannot shake. If we only have faith when we have all we want; then, we have believed another Jesus and embraced a different gospel from that which the Apostles preached 2Cor11:4.
Can you please examine your life again and answer my pertinent question: “Which Jesus did you receive?” Remain rapturable, my dears.

Do you still need α̇ special message on Eschatology to understand the signs around? Is someone waiting for α̇ "GREAT PROPHET" to declare it before he begins to set his records straight with Heaven?

Am looking forward to that time and season when there will be no more pain and sorrow, when I won't have to wake up each morning to the sound of fresh bad news. Infact, I'll be so glad to see those endless consecutive glorious days with night as α̇ very vague past; when fear and trepidation will be as though they never existed. We'll live forever in AWE of this Amazing God's presence.

But, as long as you're reading this post; we're still mere men carrying this earthen body called flesh and living by God's mercy @ the very tail end of the last days. How prepared are you for eternity????

That's where the score cards will matter. That's where God's approval will mean everything. The life you have lived on earth will play back to us either with regret or with great joy. It'll no longer be about "afterall no one saw me doing it", nor will it be our very frequent question "does it really matter?" We'll meet face to face with our Redeemer. Then we'll discover that our time here is just α̇ preparation for the "real" time in eternity.

My question is how are you preparing? Its easy to get so engrossed in the details of all the evils going on around and the number of deaths recorded in these past few months. My writing this is not α̇ call to fear but, let me urge you and myself to please do α̇ quick life re-evaluation. The things you prioritise are they God's heart beat? Will the ALMIGHTY give you α̇ "well done" if He meets you @ the point of your pursuit now??? The hand writing on the wall is "Mene mene tekel upharsin".

GOD HAS Α̇ SCALE, MAY YOU NOT BE FOUND WANTING....... Amen!

The secret of α̇ successful personal life and corporate church life is finding and fulfilling God's Will. After accepting Jesus as my Lord and saviour, I gave my word I would never allow worries to beat me. It is true that sometimes I do get upset when I cannot understand certain things, but when this happens I seek God's direction and counsel through prayer and Bible reading. I have since asked God to never allow me to become angry, disillusioned, or fearful regardless of the situation. I know the Lord hears earnest and heart felt prayers.

And am sure you've heard so much about PURPOSE. Sometimes, we even begin to think that the issue is being over flogged. But nothing can be truer than this wise man's saying : "When the purpose of α̇ thing is not known, abuse is Inevitable".
When you buy α̇ television set, you do not use it as α̇ relaxation stool where you rest your aching legs. Neither do you buy an expensive phone and drop it in the toilet with the intent to flush.

The cost of α̇ thing does not define its purpose per se, but it gives it value and worth in the eyes of the user.

How much does your life cost? The Bible says: "What shall it profit α̇ man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?" (Matt 16:26) Which means that if the whole world and your soul are placed on α̇ scale, you are worth more.

Maybe, you feel you were an accident and therefore whatever you can make out of life is understandable and commendable. Or are you of the opinion that God took His time to mould and beautify such α̇ precious product as you only to dump you on earth without α̇ purpose?

When I hear or think about the word PURPOSE, α̇ funny story comes to mind. Its about the tortoise and his shell. The tortoise felt that its shell was too heavy and made him move slowly plus the fact that it was very unattractive; and so he asked the creator to relieve him of his shell so that he could live α̇ freer and more attractive life. That request was granted and that same day, when the heat of the sun was intensified the tortoise dug into the ground to hide but the heat of the scorching sun was still felt directly on its back. There was no hiding place from the predators - Coyotes, feral cats, reptiles, birds and the gila monster who were so glad that its hard outer shell was no more. I think at the end of the day, the tortoise understood the creator's wisdom in giving him the hard shell. Now that he knew the purpose of the shell he appreciated it better.

Now, let's not go too far with that folk tale. Let's just pick out the lessons. You'll never appreciate your existence on earth till you understand your purpose. And you can never live α̇ fulfilled life even if you live until you're 120 years, as long as you don't live according to the your creator's manual.

His hand book where you'll find your own divine purpose is the BIBLE. And the class room where he reveals and explains everything to you, One on One is His presence.

Don't be in α̇ hurry when you communicate with Him. Give God quality time and He'll give you the compass for your life.
