If you are married to a yoruba man, and you don't understand yoruba, even if he speaks it for one hour, you would only be starring at him.

The length of time he speaks it won't automatically cause you to understand it, except you decide to pay attention and actually learn the language.

Language is what connects people. Language gives room for tolerance and even enhances privilege. We experience this when we go to the market. The moment your language person speaks the language, price go come down 😃

But there is the language we ignore the most, and it places us in the most emotional dangers.

The love language!

According to an American writer, Gary Chapman, there are 5 languages of love.

Everyone of us have a language of love that we either speak or understand.

When I talk about experiences from India, it is not from a hate point of view.

I say these things for knowledge sake, and for anyone who have any sort of authority in India to know how they are doing.

I know that it is a country where people don't like to hear that they are racists, but I have never been anywhere else looking for a house to live in, and someone says to me; 'we don't rent houses to foreigners', and then dismiss you like a piece of s**t.

I remember when I was to visit India for my further studies.

At the hospital where I went to get my yellow card, a nurse said to me with disdain;

'of all countries, it is India?'

I really felt disdain for her too. But down the line, I would remember it and agree with her. Perhaps she knew why she said what she said.

Going to India wasn't such a great blessing, just because the country made it so. That is why I created this page. To share my stories and the stories of others who live and have lived in India, to enable us all see through how terrible racism is in our society and what we can do to eliminate it.

The development of a country, I have observed is also based on her ability to accept "strangers", if not for anything, for the fact that they are however human beings, and even though they were not born where they have travelled to, they have the right to live.

We human beings are almost exhausting our sense of acceptance. We have created boundaries that are ridiculous and offensive. We pay no respect to backgrounds, and as such, we tend to be heartless towards each other.

Africans living in India have started telling their stories!

And these stories are very beautiful. You want to read them, and go; "oh India!"

It is filled with excitement, sadness, anger, happiness, criticisms, just about any kind of emotion you may or may not expect.

It is not only that the streets are not made of gold like you see in the movies😃, it is also that when you first arrived, you would ask like someone once asked; "have we reached?"

Well, not for everyone.

Indians are welcoming people, to an extent. India is great nation too. And I say to an extent because you may not get the welcome treatment in moments you need them. It is a place where "how are you?" and "have you eaten?" are common pleasantries. You are not asked to be fed. You are asked, to just be spoken to.

I can say it is a strange experience for many people. It is a strange land.

Wait for the satisfaction of your curiosity! Wait for this thing!

Living in India as a foreigner is quite difficult.

It is much more difficult because the people have the mindest of I don't care. You hear things from certain people like; If it's difficult, return to your country.

Then you look around the environment, and begin to wonder what brought you there in the first place. You cannot even find a solid reason to go about a protest like people did when Trump broughg about DACA in America.

Every sane country should always remember that foreigners are a large contribution to their growth, otherwise they would remain stunted for a longer while.

Have you ever been to a country where everyone is basically having one kind of attitude towards life and people? You are kind of wondering why and how everyone reacts almost the same, even after you have in your mind, given them a benefit of the doubt that they may act in a way one may choose to call 'logical'.

For instance; the very simplest of them. You are in an office to submit a document. The officer in charge begins to make things difficult for you. You decide to call a local friend or skmeone you just know, because basically there are no friends who are that helpful. He or she finally comes to help you explain and convince the officer of what you are saying in their local language.

What happens next struck you. This "helper" blocks his head from the explanation you have given and replies "yes sir" to the officer. A person who is supposed to help you explanin yourself helps the officer repeat to you the same thing you had been hearing. Just how absurd could that be?

One is left but to believe that every single person in India are one and the same. How they view other people and react to them and situations.

Be ye African.
Be ye Indian.

A nation which does not accept criticism creates an uncomfortable environment for her residents. Criticism only makes people better.

It frustrates to realise that being in India, one is almost prohibited from saying how they feel and what they feel wrong about the environment one finds himself.

There is like defences for each and every wrong and one cannot help but give up on trying to obtain a comfortable ground. Give it a try India. Open your doors and give ears to your visitors because your visitors are in so many places all over the world.
