NPFL Round-Up: Enyimba, Heartland Return To Winning Ways, As 10-Man El-Kanemi Warriors Shock Rivers United

Enyimba FC retuned to winning ways after defeating hard fighting Ikorodu City 2 - 1 in one of the NPFL match day 9 encounters decided over the weekend.

A 90 +2 minutes header by the center back, Adiukwu Moses off Imo Obot's cross ensured that the People's Elephant returned back to winning ways after two unpleasant results in matchday 7 and 8.

NFF To Announce Amunike, Manu For Super Eagles, Golden Eaglets Jobs

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Department and Technical Committee have agreed unanimously to name former Barcelona winger, Emmanuel Amunike and former FIFA U17 World Cup winning coach, Manu Garba as the Super Eagles and Golden Eaglets Head coaches.

Enyimba FC Head Coach, Finidi George will be named as Assistant Coach to Emmanuel Amunike.

Finidi will also lead the Super Eagles to two international friendly matches against Ghana and Mali.

An impeccable source from the Nigerian football federation (NFF) who pleaded anonymity revealed this to newsmen.

"Emmanuel Amunike and Finidi George have been listed as the Head Coach and the Assistant Coach for Super Eagles while Manu Garba has been given the nod to lead.the Golden Eaglets team.

"The NFF looked at set of coaches among those who indicated interest in the job and chose ones who are most qualified and have the experience and exposure to lead the crop of players in the team.

They also considered having a coach who will understand every situation with them, so, they concluded in picking Amunike ahead of others.

Finidi has also been with the team in recent times, so, he was favoured to be the Assistant while Manu Garba who is more qualified for the U17 job following his antecedents was given one more opportunity to prove it once again at the U17 level”.

Amunike who qualified Tanzania for the African Nations Cup after 39 years and won the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2015 and served as the Assistant Coach to Austin Eguavoen at the 2021 African Nations Cup hosted by Cameroon.

He was the Assistant Coach when Nigeria senior national team lost the World Cup ticket to Ghana in the last Round of the 2022 World Cup qualifier.

Manu Garba had also won the FIFA U17 World Cup two times.

UNITED" is wrongly spelt.

It's very common to single out a player or few , maybe the head coach , when a team underperforms . This intentional or unintentional criticism underlines insatiable desires of club's fans to see their team performing at top level week in week out . Unrealistically, to the fans' dismay a club weekly performance is not always at equilibrium to the fans' expectations.

It is another litany of sorrows at the Old Trafford:
Two games in the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League,

Two losses,
Five goals scored and seven conceded,

Plus a back - to - back defeat at Old Trafford

Too shameful, right?

Who is to be blamed? Onana? Eric Ten Hag? Maguire and Sancho are saved for now.

I think the United in "united" has been wrongly spelt by a false coloured "devil" 😈!

The truth is United is no longer a star-studded team. It's a transitional era at the club , therefore fans must understand that there'll be inconsistencies.

How long will it take Man United to be the club their fans want to see? I think their patience must pay the price, while they wait for the return of their injured defenders.

Onana is not the problem at United , but he's a half solved problem. A weak defense line is like an indecent exposure of the "nak*d" flops of a good goalkeeper, while a decent defense line is a charisma that inspires a goalkeeper's confidence not to disappoint the team.

It's good that we are now seeing what David De Gea saw at Man United before he was unceremoniously released from the club.
