My first cycle to camp trip also first time experience camping in Singapore.
🏕️Location: Pulau Ubin Maman Campsite (they say this is the only campsite that allow campfire)
🚴Distance: total cycle +-43km from town, you have to take a ferry in to the island and cycle from jetty to campsite or can order a van taxi in the island, bicycle rental is available too.
💰Cost: campsite us free, apply permit from AXS , Ferry with bicycle per way 6SGD, without bicycle 4SGD
📡Network: connected to my Maxis line Malaysia and SG line is under roaming 😅
Tent: Naturehike Cloud Motorcycle Tent (very satisfying, good waterproof, come with 1 room 1 living, 4 opening perfect for ventilation, reasonable price)
Experience:
We arrive around 11.30am and start to unload from bicycle, suddenly comes group of monkey, and grab our chicken rice. We have to park our bikes close to us, while busy setting up tent. Suddenly one smart monkey come close to my bike and grab my stove which is in my bicycle carrier bag and my whole bike flip, broke our one and only gas cylinder, and the monkey is not afraid of people still trying to grab things from my bag. We manage to chase it away, slowly it started to rain (they say opening new tent must rain). We have to fight monkeys, build tent and also keep wood for cooking since no more gas. Very kelam kabut, but finally all sorted. Literally curi makan in the tent because afraid of monkey attack!
Not windy in the afternoon, very humid but still it's nice to just stay outdoor and listening to the rain drop and wave sounds. Suddenly our neighbors start shoo-ing, we saw a wild boar running to them to get food. 😨. So now we have another friend visiting us and we have to take care of it. It was a long rain, on and off drizzle until 4am. Our initial plan was to stay for 2 nights but after hearing another tent being attack midnight by monkey and stole their bread, we decided to just leave the next day morning.
Overall, I did enjoy the moment being out there, monkey is really annoying, but won't stop me from camping in Singapore but maybe not the same site anymore.
