Joseph De Silva: A Legacy of Service to Selangor Hockey

The Selangor hockey fraternity mourns the passing of Joseph De Silva, a dedicated servant of the game whose influence shaped both grassroots development and administrative progress over decades.

A former official of the Selangor Hockey Association (SHA), Joseph played a pivotal role in strengthening the sport’s foundation within the state. As a founding member of Olak Hockey Club and its long-serving Team Manager, he was instrumental in transforming Klang into a nurturing ground for emerging hockey talent.

His passion was most evident through his leadership in organizing the C. Paramalingam Trophy, a platform where he tirelessly mentored young players and worked closely with local coaches to elevate the quality of the game.

Joseph’s passing leaves a profound void, felt both on the field and within the hockey community. Yet, his unwavering commitment to developing the next generation will remain his enduring legacy.

On behalf of the Selangor Hockey Association, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, players, and all who were touched by his generosity and leadership. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations of hockey players and administrators.

Selangor Hockey Association had their Umpires officiating at the Kejohanan Hoki 5S (U15) Tertutup - HUSEL 2026 organized by Persatuan Hoki Daerah Hulu Selangor it was an action-packed showdown of skill, speed, and determination.

6 boys Team and 5 girls team took part in this day long tournament. Congratulation to X’STABURA2 GIRLS defeating SEMASHUR THUNDER GIRLS 2-0 in the finals to win the girls category, while in the Boys category STABURA COBRA edged SEMASHUR THUNDER BOYS 3-2 on penalty strokes after a 2-2 full time draw.
