The ASEAN University Sports Council (AUSC) proudly marked another significant milestone today in Chengdu, China with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union during the ABU Sports Media Conference.

The MoU signifies a strategic collaboration between AUSC and ABU in strengthening sports media development, broadcasting cooperation, content sharing, and the promotion of university sports across the ASEAN region and beyond.

This collaboration reflects AUSC’s continuous commitment to enhancing the visibility and impact of university sports through stronger media engagement and regional partnerships.

The ASEAN University Sports Council (AUSC) was honoured to participate in the 2nd AUSF Regional Development Programme and organised the 40th AUSC Meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 2 – 5 May 2026.

Hosted by the University Sports Board of Thailand (USBT) and the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF), with the support of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the programme provided an important regional platform for collaboration, strategic discussions, and knowledge exchange among university sports leaders and stakeholders across ASEAN.

Key discussions during the 40th AUSC Meeting focused on strengthening governance, enhancing regional cooperation, and preparations for future ASEAN university sports events, including the 22nd ASEAN University Games Kuala Lumpur 2026.

The Regional Development Programme further reinforced the shared commitment towards developing sustainable university sports ecosystems and nurturing future sports leaders across the ASEAN region.

Chiang Mai will always hold a special place in AUSC history as the city where the AUSC journey began and where the inaugural ASEAN University Games was successfully hosted in 1981 — marking the start of a proud legacy of unity and excellence through university sports in the ASEAN region.

AUSC looks forward to continued collaboration with all member countries and partners in advancing university sports development and promoting unity through sports.

In Loving Memory of Late Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim Mokhtar
AUSC Medical and Anti-Doping Committee Member (2012 – 2026)

It is with deep sadness and profound respect that we remember the invaluable contributions of Late Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim Mokhtar, who served the ASEAN University Sports Council (AUSC) with unwavering dedication from 2012 to 2026.

Prof. Halim passed away on 29 March 2026, leaving behind a legacy that has profoundly shaped university sports development across the ASEAN region.

Throughout his years of service, Prof. Halim was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and integrity. His passion for university sports development and his commitment to fostering unity and excellence across ASEAN have left a lasting impact that will continue to inspire generations to come.

His leadership, humility, and vision have shaped many of the initiatives and progress we see in AUSC today. Beyond his professional achievements, he will always be remembered for his kindness, mentorship, and the genuine care he showed to everyone around him.

As we honour his memory through this tribute video, we reflect on his final contributions and celebrate a life devoted to service, education, and the advancement of sports.

Thank you, Prof. Halim, for your dedication, your leadership, and your lasting impact.

You will always remain in our hearts.
