We started as a small group of keen rowers from various backgrounds, who have come together in our love of rowing to form Malaysia’s first Open Age (18 years +) and Masters Age (27 years +) rowing club. Some of us have rowed competitively in university and some have only recently started rowing later in life. We are a registered club with the Malaysia Sports Commissioners Office and are guided by the Putrajaya Rowing Association.
We row from Kelab Tasik, Putrajaya. Training is from 7am on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Boats are available 7am to 6:45pm everyday, so training outside our scheduled days and times is allowed, with approval from the Club.
What boats do you use?
We have singles, doubles/pair, quads/fours and an 8. You can arrange your own squad or just turn up on training day and we will find you a boat.
I have never rowed before, can I join the Club?
Those new to rowing are encouraged to sign up to the Club’s Learn to Row Course. The course is run over 6 sessions, the first 4 sessions will involve direct coaching and the final 2 sessions you will join a crew and be coached within the boat by an experienced club member. Times are by appointment with the club, usually on a Saturday morning. The cost of the course is RM450. On completion you can then sign up to the KLRC and start rowing! A good video to watch before your first lesson is Rowing Technique for Beginners: https://youtu.be/I9r6bXOvepU

What do I need to bring with me?
All rowing equipment, including life vests will be supplied. All you need to bring is a hat, sunscreen and water. Wear tight/slim fitting sports clothes and a pair of socks or reef shoes. Also a small towel and a change of clothes is recommended.
What sort of coaching/programs do you offer with membership?
Once a month we have a coached session where we will have a coach join alongside in a motor boat. This a good opportunity to improve on technique and ensure bad habits aren’t formed. Outside of this you can hire the coaches directly.
How much is it to join?
Membership runs from 1 January to 31 December of each year. Ordinary Members have the option of paying instalments of RM90 per month or RM250 per quarter. There is also an option for casual rowers which costs RM200 for the year (payable upfront) for Casual Membership plus RM30 for each outing. Casual Members have access to the Club’s activities, but are unable to vote at the AGM or be elected onto the committee.
Where does my money go?
KLRC is an entirely not for profit sporting club. All monies raised will go towards costs such as boat rental, maintenance and purchase of new equipment and Club competitions and events. Fees will be reviewed annually and adjusted accordingly.
I really want to row but can’t afford the fees right now, is there anyway I can still row with KLRC?
Yes! We want to support everyone to enjoy rowing, so please talk to us if you would struggle to cover the membership fees.
