KL Barbarians Formed in July 2011, the KL Barbarians is the first open corporate dragon boat team in the Klang Val

The KL Barbarians is a team that is open to everyone and anyone who has a passion for dragon boating, and is supported solely through its own members and corporate sponsorships. The team was formed by a group of individuals who got together in August 2011 to learn the sport and raced their first dragon boat race barely 10 weeks after. Sporting an entirely different crew (except the Captain and Team Manager), we’re back on the global stage and will be competing in:

We trained specifically for this situation and watched it all unfold at the Putrajaya International Dragon Boat Race 2026. Every single one of our crew turned up, dug deep, recovered and did it all over again.

The results - 7 boats in the finals and 2 podium finishes

Over the weekend, six of our members attended the Malaysian Dragon Boat Federation - MDBF Level 1 & Level 2 Dragon Boat Coaching Course, conducted by Coach Carl Mendoza - taking the opportunity to deepen our understanding of the sport and gain new perspective on coaching, training and athlete development.

One of our own members contributed to the programme by delivering the Basic Life Support session, sharing valuable knowledge and skills that are essential both on and off the water.

A weekend well spent learning and growing 🚣🏻📚
