🪔 Dhanteras: Where Wealth Meets Wellness ✨
Did you know? The word 'Dhan' means wealth and 'Teras' means the 13th day - marking this auspicious celebration on the 13th day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik!
📖 The Legend Behind Dhanteras:
King Hima's 16-year-old son was destined to die by snake bite on his 4th day of marriage. His clever wife laid out gold ornaments and coins at the entrance, lighting countless lamps. When Yama (the God of Death) arrived as a serpent, he was so dazzled by the brilliance that he couldn't enter! The prince was saved, and thus began the tradition of celebrating Dhanteras.
✨ Why We Celebrate:
• Lord Dhanvantari (God of Ayurveda) emerged during Samudra Manthan on this day
• Goddess Lakshmi is believed to visit homes that are well-lit and clean
• Considered most auspicious for new purchases, especially gold and silver
• Marks the beginning of Diwali celebrations
🪙 Traditional Customs:
• Buying precious metals
• Lighting diyas at entrance
• Drawing rangoli designs
• Performing Lakshmi Puja
• Purchasing new utensils
Wishing everyone a prosperous Dhanteras! May Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber bless your home with wealth, health, and happiness. 🙏
