Aikido Fudoshin Malaysia (AFM) evolves from Fudoshin Dojo, set up in 2007 by a group of 8 martial arts enthusiasts who decided to put together a place not only for themselves to train, but also to reach out to others to disseminate the benefits that come from regular and sustained practice of the martial arts. Fudoshin, is a state of equanimity or imperturbability (literally and metaphorically "im
movable heart" or "immovable mind")-philosophical/mental dimension to the martial arts which contributes to the effectiveness of the advanced practitioner. Fudoshin has also been defined as a spirit of unshakable calm and determination, courage without recklessness, rooted stability in both mental and physical realms. Like a willow tree, powerful roots deep in the ground and a soft yielding resistance against the winds that blow through it.....
These benefits, available to all who come to the realization that the martial arts are about so much more than fighting or getting a black belt, will include a calmness of the mind, stress relief, discipline and a strong and healthy body. Unlike most dojo's which are run on very traditional lines, Fudoshin Dojo, is a more modern interpretation of the traditional dojo. While retaining the important aspects of traditional martial arts such as discipline, courtesy, respect and sincere hard training, Fudoshin Dojo is flexible in its choice of martial art, training methods and has strong emphasis on fellowship and cultivation of mental strength.
