Well… technically, most of us were.
We often hear "there is nothing we can do about flat feet”…
👶🏻 Young children naturally have very little visible arch. As we grow, walk, play and load our feet, the muscles and tissues develop. And for most people, an arch gradually appears.
So, having flat feet doesn’t automatically mean something is “wrong”. But it MAY be the cause of certain movement challenges and restrictions.
But here’s the part we often forget:
👣 OUR FEET ARE MEANT TO MOVE.
They have muscles, joints and sensory receptors that help us adapt to the ground, absorb load and support our whole structure.
🦶 The question isn’t simply “Do you have an arch?”
It’s: Are your feet strong, mobile and capable of doing their job?
Just look at how we live today.
Cushioned shoes. Restrictive shoes. And far less barefoot movement. 👠🩰👟👡👞👢
Over time, the way we use (or don’t use) our feet can influence how they develop, move and respond to load.
📣 The good news? Your feet are trainable.
Through awareness, varied movement, loading, balance and play, we can reclaim our innate capacity for foot strength, mobility and control, and improve how our feet work as part of our whole body.
Because sometimes, the answer isn't another few hundred Ringgit on another pair of fancy “support” shoes.
Your feet need more opportunities to support YOU. 👣

P.S. Flat feet aren't inherently a problem. If you're experiencing persistent pain or discomfort, get assessed rather than accepting it as a life sentence.
