It's been 13 amazing years since Blade KL opened it doors. In that time we've learnt a lot of important lessons. that we will carry with us, always. Here are the most important:
Respect is the first thing we teach
Respect for others, respect for yourself. Creating a warm, supportive community is why so many Blade KL alumni still call this place home years after their last match
Build good people first, champions second
The best blade is useless without a grounded mind and a good heart. Success on the piste is a bonus. The real reward is seeing how our fencers grow in the world beyond
Great coaches inspire great leaders
Our goal is to nurture young fencers into the mentors and role models of tomorrow. In the hands of great coaches, kids learn to take a hit, step back, adjust, and lunge forward again. It's how we build unstoppable resilience
Grit beats talent when talent doesn't work
Passion gets you started, but grit keeps you going. We teach kids to push through the moments they don't feel like practicing, because the hard stuff only gets easier when you put in the work
Never trade your values for victory
Growth and medals mean very little if we lose the humility, respect, and sportsmanship that got us here in the first place
The discipline stays, long after training ends
Fencing teaches focus, self-control, and grace under pressure — all skills that serve our kids in exam halls, boardrooms, and life long after their competitive days end
Parents are the key to making good things happen
The dedication and commitment to training starts with parents, from showing up consistently for early weekend tournaments, wncouraging their kids, and being there 24/7. Blade KL isn't just a sport for the kids; it’s a shared journey for the whole family.
Here's to many more years of fencing, family, and community!
