Strong legs matter: Peak power and torque (especially from the lead leg) are top predictors of performance.

Did you know? Most top junior athletes don’t go on to become top seniors, and the same is true the other way around!

A huge study of over 60,000 athletes found:

• Just 16% of junior international medalists go on to win medals as seniors.
• 92% of successful juniors and seniors actually come from different groups.
• Early success as a junior does not strongly predict elite performance as an adult.

So, what does this tell us?

-Youth sports should focus on helping kids grow over time, not just on early victories.

-Talent programs that only select the top juniors often overlook future stars.
