《Silence Should Never Be Mistaken for Acceptance》
When my teacher decided to leave, I sincerely wished her nothing but the best.
I truly believe that every teacher has the right to pursue their dreams and build their own future.
If the story had ended there, I would have continued to wish her well and quietly support her new journey.
But what happened afterwards gradually changed everything.
Over the past few weeks, I have received many messages from parents who have been with our academy for years.
Some told me how heartbroken they felt.
Some expressed how unfair they thought the situation was.
Many simply asked me,
“Why haven’t you said anything?”
What hurt me even more was when parents began forwarding private messages they had received.
Only then did I realise that, without my knowledge, many of our families had been contacted privately after the resignation.
Reading those messages, one after another, was deeply painful.
That was the moment I realised that the sincere blessing I had given did not lead to the mutual respect I had hoped for.
My silence was never out of fear.
Nor was it acceptance.
I remained silent because I genuinely hoped everything could end with mutual respect, and that each of us could move forward on our own path.
I have always believed that education should be built on respect, not on hurting one another.
Unfortunately, I also realised that my silence had created misunderstandings.
It caused many people who have supported Carole Academy of Dance for years to feel confused and deeply saddened.
That is why I have chosen to speak today.
Not because I am afraid of competition.
But because I have a responsibility to protect what has taken over twenty-one years to build.
Only those who have devoted their lives to running a dance academy will truly understand this.
The most valuable thing an academy owns is not its studio.
It is not its equipment.
It is not even its teaching materials.
It is the trust of families.
The growth of generations of children.
The culture that teachers and an academy build together over many years.
It takes decades to earn that trust.
It can be damaged in only a matter of days.
Every teacher has the right to pursue their own dreams.
I have never questioned that.
But every educator who has dedicated years to building an academy also deserves respect.
Today, I am not speaking to stop anyone from pursuing their future.
I am simply asking that any actions which continue to harm Carole Academy of Dance come to an end.
Matters relating to the academy’s rights have already been referred to the appropriate authorities, and I will continue to protect the academy through the proper channels.
This statement is not written out of revenge.
It is written because I have a responsibility to protect the students, families, teachers, and the community that have built Carole Academy of Dance together over the past twenty-one years.
My blessing at the beginning was genuine.
It was only the events that followed that left me with no choice but to speak.
My sincere hope is that the harm will stop here.
Let education remain about education.
Let children remain at the heart of what we do.
And let every educator who dedicates their life to teaching be treated with fairness, respect, and professional integrity.
