🌊 Ghost Net Removal | Batu Belais
We carried out a special underwater conservation mission at Batu Belais, Miri’s coral reef national park, to remove a “ghost net” that had been left behind on the seabed.
Although abandoned fishing nets may seem harmless once they are no longer in use, they can continue to trap and entangle corals, fish, and other marine life, posing a long-term threat to the coral reef ecosystem.
This operation was supported by Yinson Lavender Operation Sdn Bhd, with Miri Divers and Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) involved in the ex*****on of the cleanup.
In the end, we successfully removed approximately 70 kg of abandoned fishing net from the seabed. 🤿💪
For us, this was more than just another dive.
Every dive is an opportunity to do a little more for our ocean. 🌊
Thank you to everyone who took part in this operation, and to everyone who continues to support and protect our coral reefs.
