Women & Men XCO Final SUKMA Selangor 2026

Our Downhill team was unable to bring home a medal for Sarawak today, but it will not be a setback for us. Tomorrow is another day and another chance for our XCO team. Tomorrow, our Sarawak Cycling Team will take on the Women and Men XCO Final at SUKMA Selangor 2026.

Let us pray for our Sarawak team. May Allah SWT protect our athletes, give them strength and determination, and reward their hard work with the best result tomorrow. Trust your training, stay focused and give your best until the finish. We are all behind you.

Our appreciation to Majlis Sukan Negeri Sarawak (MSNS) for the attention and support given to our MTB team when we needed a replacement frame for one of our XCO athletes.

The previous frame suffered a breakage during our preparations and unfortunately, it was beyond repair and no longer covered under warranty. With SUKMA getting closer, this was something we needed to sort out quickly so the athlete could get back on the bike and continue training without losing more valuable time.

We are grateful that MSNS responded to our request and provided an Orbea MTB frame for the athlete’s immediate use. It may seem like just a frame but at this stage of preparation, having a reliable bike makes a big difference to the athlete and the whole team.

We truly appreciate the continuous support from MSNS, not only in providing the equipment needed by our athletes but also for the ease of communication, quick attention and cooperation whenever our team faces a need along the way. That kind of support makes our job much easier and allows us to focus on getting our athletes ready to race.

Hopefully, with the new frame and a little more confidence on the bike, our XCO team can put in their best performance when we line up at SUKMA. 🙏🏼🚵🏻‍♂️🚵🏻‍♀️

A big thank you to our SCA President, Mr Irawan Sudarsono for going the extra mile to support our MTB & BMX athletes during the final days of preparation for SUKMA Selangor 2026.

Knowing how demanding the final stretch of training can be, he made sure our athletes had proper recovery support by arranging for a masseuse to come all the way from Kuching to join the team camp.

With the intensity of training and competition getting higher, recovery is just as important as the training itself. Having proper massage and recovery support at camp helps our athletes manage fatigue, recover better and stay in the best possible condition leading into SUKMA.

We truly appreciate the effort and commitment from our President in making sure our athletes are well taken care of, not only in terms of equipment and training but also their recovery and well-being.

Thank you for always putting our athletes first and for going the extra mile for the team🙏🏼.

We are truly grateful to Majlis Sukan Negeri Sarawak (MSNS) for stepping in and making sure our athletes have the equipment they need for their final preparations towards SUKMA Selangor 2026.

Two Giant road bikes have now been replaced and are ready to be put to good use by our Sarawak Cycling Team. With SUKMA getting closer, the timing could not have been better. Having the right equipment at this stage means a lot to our riders, allowing them to train and prepare with greater confidence as they head into the final stretch.

The bikes were needed following damage to two of the bikes used by our athletes during a recent race, but rather than letting that setback affect our preparations, the support from MSNS has helped us move forward quickly.

On behalf of the Sarawak Cycling Association (SCA), thank you to MSNS for the continued support and for always looking out for the needs of our athletes.

🚴‍♂️ ROAD TO SUKMA 2026 BEGINS FOR THE ROAD & TRACK CYCLING TEAM! 🚴‍♀️

The Sarawak Cycling Association proudly wishes our 16 SUKMA cyclists and coaching team all the best as they embark on the Centralised Training Camp in preparation for the 2026 Selangor SUKMA Games.

A contingent of 14 road and track cyclists, accompanied by Road Cycling Coach Anuar bin Manan and Track Cycling Coach Mohamad Fariz Haikal bin Mohamad Kadir, has departed for the month-long training camp from 23 July to 25 August 2026. Two additional athletes had travelled earlier as they are currently competing in the National Mountain Bike (MTB) Championship before rejoining the Sarawak contingent.

Throughout the centralised programme, our athletes will undergo intensive training to sharpen their fitness, technical skills, race tactics and overall preparedness ahead of Malaysia’s biggest multi-sport event.

🚴 Road Cycling Team will train around Sepang, Selangor, the official SUKMA road race venue, under the guidance of Coach Anuar bin Manan.

🚴‍♀️ Track Cycling Team will be based at the Iskandar Puteri Velodrome, Johor, where Coach Mohamad Fariz Haikal bin Mohamad Kadir will lead specialised track training to maximise race performance.

Prior to their departure, the athletes and coaches attended a short briefing where they received words of advice and encouragement from Deputy CEO of the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), Mr. Khairul Nizam bin Morshidi. He urged both the road and track teams to remain disciplined, committed and focused throughout the training camp, while reminding them to take pride in representing Sarawak and to give their very best at the upcoming SUKMA Games.

Also accompanying the team are Track Team Manager Mr. Pin Pheng Sia and Road Team Manager Mr. Mohd Hairulnizam Mohd Zamri, who will oversee the athletes’ welfare and logistics throughout the centralised training camp.

Sarawak Cycling Team wraps up the MTB National Championship 2026 with a proud haul of 2 National Champions 🥇, 1 Silver 🥈 and 2 Bronze 🥉 medals!

In Downhill (DH), Sharifah Nur Aina Marissa narrowly missed the podium with a 4th place finish in the Women Junior category, while Muhammad Luthfil Hasief secured 5th in the Men Youth category.

In Cross Country (XCO), Nurfara Ain Nabiela finished 4th in the Women Under-23 category and also qualified for the XCE Women Open Small Final. Naina Adriana finished 6th in Women Youth category. Muhammad Fiqri Iqbal placed 5th in the Men Under-23 category, while Bryan Goh and Muhammad Fakhrul Razi recorded commendable 6th and 7th place finishes in the Men Junior and Men Under-23 categories, respectively.

The medals are something to celebrate, but what made us even prouder was seeing every rider race with confidence, determination and maturity. Months of hard work are beginning to show, and this championship has given the team a real boost heading into the final stretch of preparations for SUKMA 2026. We hope the momentum, belief and fighting spirit built here will carry our athletes to even greater performances when it matters most.

Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, officials and everyone who has supported the team. Onwards to SUKMA 2026!
