Grandmaster Ji, Han Jae (1936–2026)
Ji, Han Jae was the legendary founder of Sin Moo Hapkido and one of the primary architects of modern Hapkido. Born in Andong, South Korea, he integrated traditional Korean grappling, strikes, and spiritual internal energy (Ki) into a cohesive system that emphasized circular motion and redirection. Beyond his technical mastery, he was a cultural icon, famously appearing alongside Bruce Lee in the film Game of Death. His influence spanned decades, as he dedicated his life to teaching the physical and philosophical tenets of "The Way of Coordinated Power." He passed away quietly in his sleep at approximately 5:00 am on 28 January 2026, leaving behind a profound legacy of discipline, peace, and martial excellence. May he rest in peace. Hapki!
