Hand-eye-coordination means nothing without examining the skill in question.

Both are deparmentalized

If you want to get good at catching things, go catch things.

If you wanna be more accurate with your boxing, hit focus mitts and spar.

If you wanna get better at first person shooters, play more fps games.

Be careful of coaches that claim transfer of training using bu****it flashing light drills.

Is it true that martial arts are useless in a street fight?

No, absolutely not. I’m not sure who told you that but it’s gotta be one of those “when I get angry I see red” people.

Martial arts are extremely effective. Let’s even just remove the actual technique, martial artists are naturally going to be faster, stronger and rougher than a normal person because of their extensive training, that alone is reason enough to do martial arts.

But technique is VERY important, I have been leg kicked by a Muay Thai practitioner and even as a Kickboxer I was gone, my leg was in so much pain. As a Boxer I know just how much good technique adds, I can punch way faster than a normal person can and because Boxing has you shifting all of your weight when you punch it puts more power into it than a regular punch. Every single martial art from Boxing and Kickboxing to Judo and Wrestling are all really effective

TECHNICAL SPARRING

The experienced fighter can relax since he knows he is no danger and work on his defense and try new things.

The new guys can get a feel for a fight, usually in their minds it's an actual fight and they do take it seriously.

It's also great for the experienced fighter when he has been out for a while, it lets him get some of his insticts and sense of distance back without having to get hit that much.

Notice it can be done also without gloves.
