Conditional Movement Control Order

Take care in your community.

A list of standard operating procedures has been released to be observed by those residing in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, which has been put under the conditional movement control order (MCO) starting today October 14th.

For sporting activities, individual sports, e-sports, sports that do not involve physical contact, combat sports and outdoor sports with not more than 10 participants will be allowed.

Please note that Touch does involve physical contact.

The MCO will be in place for 2 weeks – hopefully groups can get back to enjoying a group run then.

FIT and England announce the 2021 Youth World Cup will be deferred. See the full announcement at the FIT site -

Due to the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic, FIT and the host nation England have made the joint decision to defer the tournament initially planned to take place in July 2021.

FIT Touch Update

With the Coronavirus causing a lot of concern and uncertainty along with the current government MCO future competition at any level will be guided by government guidelines while keeping safety as a priority.

Any groups that have been in contact regarding event sanction and support via technical support and referees will need to reconsider their dates and plans accordingly. These plans can be reactivated once a healthy participation pathway opens for all.

International Federation – Coronavirus Statement

This message will be updated as new information comes to hand.

The FIT Board are monitoring the situation with regards to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus

The reach of the virus has increased significantly globally.

On 11 March 2020 the WHO officially categorised the disease a pandemic.
The FIT Board has subsequently made the following decisions:

1. In agreement with the host nation, China, we have postponed the 2020 Asian Touch Cup. We will review the situation in July 2020 to decide if we will reschedule the tournament in 2021.
2. In agreement with the host nation, the Philippines, we have cancelled the 2020 Asian Club Championships.
3. We have suspended all international travel by FIT personnel (including board and commission members) until further notice.

With regards to the 2020 European Championships, due to be hosted by England in July, the European Federation of Touch (EFT) will make a determination on whether this event will proceed.

The following broad principles drive this response:

1. People first – our main priority is the health of everyone involved in our sport.
2. Our core sources of data and recommendations remain WHO, however, we also consider news sources and what other sports, governments, airlines, and businesses are doing.
3. Our fundamental approach is to minimise potential exposure to the virus in order to reduce transmission.

Finally, FIT recommends that all member nations review their own travel policy and all available data to determine if they endorse the activities of their athletes and officials.

International Federation announces proposed international rule review.

The Federation of International Touch (FIT) staged a 2-day workshop for members in Paris in October 2019 and a wide range of key and emerging aspects of our sport were discussed in various workshop sessions.

Jamie O’Connor, CEO of Touch Football Australia (TFA) shared their administrations recent undertaking to review and update its playing rules. In his presentation, Jamie provided an overview of the amended TFA rules, an explanation of the extensive review process that followed, the key people involved, and subsequent implementation.

Jamie’s presentation offered a case for the introduction of a revised set of rules that could be applied globally, offering a wide range of benefits.

The key recommendation of this dedicated focus group (which was to adopt the rules internationally) was presented to the rest of the workshop delegates, resulting in an enthusiastic and lively debate on the process and actions to be undertaken to enable this proposal to be progressed.

Recognising that not all FIT members were present at the Paris meetings and to enable all National Touch Associations (NTA) to review the proposal of an amendment to the playing rules in detail, the following actions were to be implemented: -

• The proposed TFA rules to be distributed to all NTA
• The proposed TFA presentation be distributed to all NTA
• A Member driven review of the rules be undertaken immediately after the 2021 Youth World Cup and the 2023 World Cup by a FIT Member working group

The FIT Board has determined that the 8th edition of the TFA rules be rebranded as the 5th Edition Trial FIT playing rules.

FIT is also encouraging that major events during this trial period be staged under these rules. This will give FIT and its members local, national,
regional and international input on the trial period via member driven reviews.

The FIT Board has agreed that the rules can only be changed by a member driven review during the period that the copyright remains the property of TFA.

Once the trial period has expired the copyright of the rules will transfer to the Federation of International Touch and should also be subject to a member driven review.

Manchester named host city of 2021 Youth Touch World Cup

The Federation of International Touch (FIT) has announced the 2021 Youth World Cup is heading to Manchester, England.

The Manchester event is the first time the global sport’s showpiece at youth level will be held in Europe, with previous tournaments staged in Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia.

“The best young players in the world will be heading to Manchester in the summer of 2021, which is very exciting for Touch enthusiasts in Europe,” said Erick Acker, President of FIT who announced England would host the 2021 tournament.

There will be six categories within the tournament with boys, girls and mixed divisions for Under-18 and Under-20 competitors. Australia is the current world champions, with England the reigning European champions after completing a clean sweep of the 2019 European Junior Touch Championships in Paris.

The 2018 Youth Touch World Cup marked a return for the tournament after a 13-year hiatus. There were nine nations who contributed a combined 28 teams in Putrajaya, Malaysia for the 2018 event.

Erick noted, “We expect to beat this figure dramatically in 2021, given the recent growth of youth Touch in Europe, with 50 teams expected to fight it out in Manchester”.

The inaugural ‘Inter Alumni Touch Championship’ will also be staged at MMU, Cyberjaya in collaboration with the ‘TMOne Corporate Team Challenge’ this Saturday.

Senior Men’s teams (mostly ex and or current senior division Rugby Union players) are going to ‘run, catch & pass’ throughout the day in a tournament that is expected to be contested with a lot of spirit.

With the title of 2020 Champions on the line we are all looking forward to some competitive FIT Touch fun.

Saturday will be a big day at Stadium MMU, Cyberjaya where Corporate teams will take the field in the ‘TMOne FIT Touch Corporate Challenge’.

Multiple teams from Telekom Malaysia, IJM, Sime Darby and Malaysia Airlines will contest the day long tournament.

National Team Coach / Manager ‘Expression of Interest’



FIT Touch Malaysia is seeking an ‘expression of interest’ for Coaching and Manager roles for national representative teams to compete in Shanghai, China at the inaugural Asian Touch Cup in October 16 to 18, 2020.



Malaysia can enter three teams in this exciting Asian Championship event - Open Women, Men & Mixed.



The Asian Cup is a significant progression for the sport of Touch in Asia and will offer an additional national team participation pathway for Asian member nations and players, coaches and managers.

An International School in KL is seeking the services of a coach for their Under 13-year Girls’ team commencing January through to June 2020. Note: - there are some holiday breaks during this period.

Payment: RM150 per hour for coaching – 1 hour per week – each Thursday from 2.50pm – 3.50pm

Additional Payment: RM500 per term x 2 terms (RM1,000) for additional games & fixtures
