ENG FLOP: Tactical Missteps
Still top of the table after last nightβs draw with Denmark. Even with Kaneβs goal early on, they failed to build on that goal. The Danish quickly equalized thanks to an amazing long range strike to the bottom left corner of the goal post.
2 games played and to be honest, form has been poor and proven non-creative.
Gareth Southgate made some very interesting comments about Trent Alexander-Arnoldβs midfield role. He told BBC: βTrent has had some moments where heβs delivered what we thought he would. We know itβs an experiment. We donβt have a natural replacement for Kalvin Philips.β
But what about Cole Palmer or Anthony Gordon?
Both Palmer and Gordon managed 65 goal contributions in 96 appearances between them. Yet, they have not played a minute so far in the EUROS. Palmer being Chelseaβs best player by miles and Gordon, a sublime for Newcastle, also one of the best left wingers in the country. Which leads on to the next question, why are players on good form being ignored and benched?
Is it time for Gareth Southgate to make some changes and utilize his players to their fullest potential? OR should he continue running his plays?
