মু‘আয বিন জাবাল (রাঃ) বলেনঃ تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ، فَإِنَّ تَعَلُّمَهُ لِلَّهِ خَشْيَةٌ، وَطَلَبَهُ عِبَادَةٌ، وَمُذَاكَرَتَهٌ تَسْبِيحٌ، وَالْبَحْثَ عَنْهُ جِهَادٌ، وَتَعْلِيمَهُ لِمَنْ لَا يَعْلَمُهُ صَدَقَةٌ، وَبَذْلَهُ لِأَهْلِهِ قُرْبَةٌ- ‘তোমরা জ্ঞান অর্জন কর। কেননা আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টির জন্য জ্ঞানার্জন করা পরহেযগারিতা তা অন্বেষণ করা ইবাদত এবং এর পঠন ও পাঠন তাসবীহ। আর জ্ঞান-গবেষণায় নিয়োজিত হওয়া জিহাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত। যারা জানে না তাদেরকে ইলম শিক্ষা দান করা ছাদাক্বাহ এবং জ্ঞান আহরণে আগ্রহীদের কাছে তা বিতরণ করা আল্লাহর নৈকট্য লাভের অন্যতম মাধ্যম।
