On United Nations International Human Rights Day, our Principal Coach Sarina Sundara Rajah offers a reflection from sport – particularly rhythmic gymnastics – on how fragile children’s rights can be, and how deeply they are shaped by the small decisions we make as adults.

When we talk about human rights, we often picture grand stages – the UN, courtrooms, parliaments, and powerful speeches. But many of the real tests of human rights happen quietly – in warm-up areas and competition halls, where a child is just waiting for her turn to perform.

These experiences are a reminder to all of us in sport – coaches, parents, organisers, and officials. As Sarina shares, none of us gets it right all the time; we are all still learning to navigate these conversations with greater wisdom, patience, and diplomacy. But one thing is clear: silence will not keep children safe.

Former Commonwealth champion Sarina Sundara Rajah writes that safeguarding in sport is not defined by policies alone, but by whether adults choose to speak up when a child is left alone, rushed, or exposed in ways that compromise their rights

On United Nations World Teachers' Day, we celebrate all who teach — in classrooms, on the carpet, and in every space where young minds and hearts are nurtured.

To teach is to believe in the potential of others. Our SRGC coaches do this every day — guiding young girls to find strength in effort, patience in progress, and resilience in every setback.

The true impact of coaching lies not on the podium, but in the confidence, character, and compassion it builds.

Thank you, coaches, for leading with empathy and purpose — shaping not just athletes, but future leaders.
