A huge congratulations to all participants, winners, coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters who made the 38th KYC Harvest Festival & Sabah Fest Open Day Regatta 2026 a tremendous success!

Over two exciting days of racing, sportsmanship, determination, and friendship, sailors showcased their skills and passion on the waters of Tanjung Aru. Your dedication and competitive spirit truly embodied the values of sailing and made this regatta a memorable celebration for everyone involved.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to all sponsors, parents, club members, and organizing committee members whose support helped make this event possible.

May the memories, friendships, and experiences gained from this regatta continue to inspire greater achievements in the future.

Smooth Sailing for the Optimist Masters! ⛵️

Today, the Kinabalu Yacht Club continued our beloved May 1st tradition: the Optimist Masters race. From seasoned pros to the young at heart, the handicap system did its best to keep the playing field level—proving that out on the water, age and weight are just numbers! 🌊

Congratulations to our podium finishers:

🥈 1st Runner-up: Reena (House Member)
🥉 2nd Runner-up: Jarrow (Vice Commodore)

A big shout-out to Quartermaster Lau and Odel for a hard-fought battle to an equal 4th place finish!

Special thanks to Commodore Albert Shim for presiding over the presentation, and to our Race Committee for the seamless technical support. We also want to thank International Judge Leonard, who balanced his expertise with some impressive competition on the course.

The Annual General Meeting of Kinabalu Yacht Club was successfully held on 24th April 2026 at the KYC Clubhouse.

⚓ A HISTORIC MILESTONE AT KINABALU YACHT CLUB! ⚓

​Huge congratulations to Albert Shim, JP on his re-election as Commodore for the 2026–2027 term! 🥂

​This isn't just another year—it’s a historic moment for KYC. With this latest appointment, Albert has officially served a total of 11 years at the helm, further cementing his place as the longest-standing Commodore in our club’s history.

​He has now surpassed all previous records, moving well ahead of past legends like Charles Miao (8 years) and Louis Tseu (7 years).
