Malaysian Wheelchair Basketball Federation ( MWBF )

Malaysian Wheelchair Basketball Federation ( MWBF ) MWBF merupa badan sukan paralimpik yang kedua di Malaysia secara rasmi berdaftar di bawah seksyen 17 Akta Pembangunan Sukan 1997 pada 19 September 2005.

Persekutuan Bola Keranjang Kerusi Roda Malaysia (MWBF) adalah satu badan pengawal sukan dan rekreasi peringkat Kebangsaan bagi mempromosi, memaju dan menggalakkan kegiatan Sukan Bola Keranjang Kerusi Roda di kalangan orang kurang upaya (OKU) yang tidak bermotifkan keuntungan. OBJEKTIF DAN MATLAMAT
1. Untuk menggalakkan dan membangunkan sukan bola keranjang kerusi roda di peringkat Daerah, Negeri dan Kebangsaan.
2. Untuk mengekalkan hubungan baik dan kedudukan baik dengan semua badan pengelola dan pengawalseliaan antarabangsa bagi sukan bola keranjang kerusi roda.
3. Untuk memastikan prosedur pemilihan bagi ahli sukan, pegawai, jurulatih dan mana-mana orang lain untuk mewakili Negara dalam sukan bola keranjang kerusi roda adalah terbuka dan adil.
4. Untuk mewakili Negara Malaysia dalam mana-mana pertandingan sukan bola keranjang kerusi roda.
5. Untuk memastikan akaun teraudit sepenuhnya serta laporan tentang segala aktiviti, penggunaan dan perbelanjaan semua wangnya bagi tahun kewangan Persekutuan yang sebelumnya, dikemukakan kepada Pesuruhjaya Sukan berserta dengan apa-apa laporan lain yang dikehendaki oleh Pesuruhjaya Sukan.
6. Untuk memastikan bahawa Perlembagaan dan kaedah-kaedah Persekutuan dipatuhi dan diikuti oleh semua ahli.
7. Menjalankan sebarang kegiatan amal atau sebarang jenis perniagaan untuk tujuan menambah kewangan Persekutuan, asalkan tidak bercanggah dengan undang-undang negara.
8. Semua wang keuntungan yang didapati oleh Persekutuan daripada penyertaannya dalam mana-mana perniagaan atau pelaburan akan digunakan semata-mata untuk melanjutkan, memajukan dan menjalankan objektif dan matlamat Persekutuan ini. Sesungguhpun begitu, peruntukan ini tidak menghalang sebarang pembayaran yang dibuat dengan tujuan baik untuk membayar gaji atau perbelanjaan atau kedua-duanya kepada sebarang ahli atau pekerja Persekutuan ini. Persekutuan juga boleh menubuhkan Badan Perniagaan dan boleh memiliki harta benda dengan syarat keuntungan hendaklah dimasukkan dalam Tabung Kewangan Persekutuan.
9. Untuk menjalankan aktiviti tanpa ada diskriminasi tentang jantina, ras, warna kulit, agama, asal-usul, bahasa, kecenderungan politik atau apa-apa pandangan lain yang dipegang oleh anggota.

🏌️‍♂️✨ EMPTA Charity Golf Tournament Dinner 2026 ✨🏌️‍♂️

Mr Yeoh Keng Yao, Deputy President, and Mr Lim Ming Lip, General Secretary of the Malaysia Wheelchair Basketball Federation (MWBF), attended the EMPTA Charity Golf Tournament Dinner 2026.

MWBF was honoured to receive a mock cheque of RM10,000 from EMPTA President, Mr Kau Peng Yap, in support of the development of wheelchair basketball in Malaysia.

As a token of appreciation, MWBF presented a special appreciation frame to Mr Kau, expressing our sincere gratitude for EMPTA’s continuous support over the past two years and for choosing to continue supporting us in 2026.

This meaningful contribution will greatly assist in empowering our athletes, strengthening our programs, and advancing para sports in Malaysia.

Malaysia Wheelchair Basketball Team Receives SHAKAM Incentives at Palace of the Golden Horses

The Presentation Ceremony of the Sports Victory Incentive Scheme (SHAKAM) for the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games 2025 was held at the Palace of the Golden Horses, officiated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari.

During the ceremony, the Malaysia wheelchair basketball team was awarded a total of RM19,200 in incentives in recognition of their achievement of two bronze medals at the ASEAN Para Games, secured in the 3x3 category and the team (5x5) event.

The ceremony was attended by Malaysia Wheelchair Basketball Federation (MWBF) President Mr Than Chee Keong, who also served as the Assistant Chef de Mission (ACDM) for the ASEAN Para Games, together with Head Coach Lim Ming Lip, Assistant Coach Tai Ping Wey, and athletes Muhammad Azzwar bin Hassan Asaari and Freday Tan Yei Bing, who were present to receive the incentives on behalf of the team.

Speaking after the ceremony, Head Coach Lim Ming Lip expressed appreciation for the recognition, saying, “This incentive is not only an acknowledgment of our results, but also of the commitment and sacrifices made by the players and support staff. It will serve as strong motivation for the team as we continue to work towards higher levels of performance in future competitions.”

Malaysia Secures Double Bronze in Wheelchair Basketball at ASEAN Para Games

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand | 20–26 January 2026

Malaysia’s wheelchair basketball team concluded the 13th ASEAN Para Games with strong performances, claiming bronze medals in both the 3x3 and team (5x5) events in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

The Malaysian delegation was led by Team Manager Dr Chee Chen Soon, with Lim Ming Lip serving as Head Coach and Tai Ping Wey as Assistant Coach.



3x3 Competition

The 3x3 wheelchair basketball event was held on 19 and 21 January 2026. Malaysia advanced to the semifinals after the preliminary round but narrowly lost to the Philippines. The team rebounded in the bronze medal match, defeating Indonesia 21–9 to secure third place.

Final standings (3x3):
• Gold: Thailand
• Silver: Philippines
• Bronze: Malaysia
• Fourth: Indonesia



Team (5x5) Competition

The team (5x5) event took place from 21 to 26 January 2026. After challenging preliminary and semifinal matches, Malaysia delivered a dominant performance in the bronze medal playoff, defeating Indonesia 76–30 to earn another bronze medal.

Final standings (Team Event):
• Gold: Thailand
• Silver: Philippines
• Bronze: Malaysia
• Fourth: Indonesia



Commitment Beyond Competition

While Malaysia did not reach the finals in either category, the team’s commitment throughout the campaign was notable. Many players balanced full-time employment with national team duties, attending training sessions after working hours. Several athletes travelled weekly from Johor Bahru and Ipoh to participate in centralized training, underscoring the team’s dedication and professionalism.

The Malaysia wheelchair basketball team expresses its appreciation to the national association led by President Mr Than Chee Keong, the appointed Assistant Chef de Mission (ACDM) for the Malaysian contingent, as well as all sponsors and partners whose support enabled the team’s participation at the Games.
