Giada has brought so much colour, energy and laughter to our little family.

Bright, fun, caring and endlessly kind, she has a way of making the people around her feel comfortable, included and looked after — both above and below the surface.

But watching her develop as a diver has been just as special.

Along the way, Giada learnt that sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down. To stop rushing from one thing to the next, take a breath, observe, and take it all in.

This life changing realisation allowed you to grow into a true role model and a proud dive professional.

From tiny nudibranchs to creatures hiding in plain sight, Giada became our very own fish ID queen. 🐠🔍

Please join us in giving a huge congratulations to Andrew on becoming a Divemaster!

What started as a way to share a new adventure with his daughter has grown into something much bigger.

We’ve loved being part of that journey, watching you progress from Advanced Open Water Diver, through Diver Stress & Rescue and React Right, and now all the way to Divemaster.

Andrew, you’ve shown that diving doesn’t have to replace the life you’ve built above the surface. Sometimes it’s about adding something to it — a reason to step away from the office, get underwater, keep learning and have a few adventures along the way.

It’s been a real pleasure getting to know you, sharing dives and learning together. We’re incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved and excited to see where you take it next.

Here’s to many more dives, adventures and hopefully plenty of time spent exploring underwater with the people you love.

There’s something pretty special about working at a dive centre.

People arrive from all over the world, everyone with a different story, and somehow you end up spending your days learning, diving, laughing and getting covered in saltwater together.

You get to watch someone see their first turtle, nail a skill they’ve been working on, find their confidence underwater or have that moment where they realise just how incredible this place is.

And then there’s island life… boat rides, dive days, post-dive coffees, ridiculous conversations and memories you know you’ll be talking about for years.

It’s not just the diving.

It’s the people, the shared experiences and getting to be part of someone discovering a whole new world.

Women’s Dive Day is a celebration of the women who have shaped our underwater world—and a reminder that the ocean is a place where everyone belongs.

Every year, more women discover diving, become dive professionals, marine scientists, photographers, explorers, conservationists and leaders.

Every one of them brings a new perspective, new ideas and a new voice for the ocean. And while we’ve come a long way, there’s still plenty of room on the dive boat. 🐡

Perhaps the greatest thing about diving is that, underwater, we share the same language.

We rely on one another, celebrate one another, and discover that confidence has very little to do with strength, and everything to do with taking that next breath.

Today is about recognising the women who inspire us, support us, teach us, and remind us that adventure isn’t reserved for a select few—it’s for anyone willing to answer the call of the sea.

What makes a great Divemaster?

We think it’s more than confidence underwater or mastering dive skills. It’s also about understanding the living world beneath the surface and recognising that every dive is an opportunity to protect it.

That’s why our SSI Divemaster programme is built on a foundation of conservation-focused diving. Alongside developing professional dive skills, our candidates take part in interactive workshops, engaging classroom sessions, and hands-on activities designed to deepen their understanding of the underwater world.

From our Blue Oceans programme and Green Fins education, to learning fish identification, reef habitats, coral growth patterns, reef ecosystems, invertebrate ecology, and environmentally responsible diving practices, every lesson connects knowledge with action.

Our next Assistant Instructor Trainer Seminar is now open.

For many instructors, there comes a point where teaching divers no longer feels like the final step. The focus starts to shift towards supporting instructors, sharing experience, and helping others grow within the industry.

That’s what the AITS is about.

Over the course of the seminar, we’ll work closely with you both in and out of the water, exploring what it means to train and mentor dive professionals while maintaining the standards our industry depends on.

This isn’t about collecting another certification. It’s about becoming the kind of leader you would have wanted when you started.
