The Clown Within

About this incident — it’s heartbreaking.
One knife.
Fifty wounds.
The news throws out that number like it’s testing how numb we’ve become.
Behind his clown mask, there was a heart that broke long before it snapped.
Every one of us has a clown inside.
How we release it — that’s a problem we all have to face.
This has nothing to do with self-defense.
It came without warning.
And now that it’s happened here, it spreads —
like a zombie virus,
like a collective unconscious.
Don’t think you’re just a bystander,
scrolling, laughing, talking trash online.
You could be the next killer.
Or the next body.
If you ask, “How do you kill a zombie?”
There’s only one way —
aim for the head.
Back to that fourteen-year-old boy —
what if, before it happened,
a few friends had jio-ed him to skip school,
to watch a dirty movie,
to play some games together?
Would things have turned out different?
Instead of forcing others to understand your mind,
try forcing yourself to face your own.
