Fix Friday: Mastering the Side Bend on Stability Chair, are you making these common mistakes? 💡

The Side Bend on the Stability Chair is an incredible exercise for lateral spinal mobility, oblique strength, and full-body stability. However, because it’s a challenging move, it’s easy for your form to slip!

To get the most out of this move, avoid these three common pitfalls. Our instructor Gracia breaks down the mistakes we see most often in the studio:

— Instead of a long, straight line, many people tend to drop their bottom obliques. We want to keep those abdominals lifted and active from the very beginning.

— The Shoulder Shrug: Tension often creeps into the neck, causing the shoulders to shrug up when going up. Keep the shoulders down and the neck long as you’re doing the side bend.

— The Hip Roll: As you press up, the hips often want to roll backward. Focus on keeping your hips stacked in a perfectly straight line to truly target the core.

Precision is the key to results. Watch as our instructors demonstrates how to correct these for a more effective burn! 🔥

🔧 Does Front Rowing on the Reformer got you feeling a bit wobbly? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there!

Instructor Anna is showing us the 3 most common “oops” moments we see on the carriage during this exercises:

1️⃣ Body Leaning forward when straps are pulled —> Keep lengthening your back instead.
2️⃣ Rounding the shoulders during hug a tree position —> stabilise the shoulder blades
3️⃣ Flared ribs and tilting pelvis —> pulling in the ribs and imprint the spine

🔧 Fix Friday: Pull Up on Cadillac
Pull up on Cadillac focuses on upper body strength. Challenge pelvic stability and shoulder stabilization while maintaining isometric hold at the top. But how to do it correctly?

1️⃣ Shrugging shoulders → poor scapular stability: keep shoulders away from ears.
2️⃣ failing to engage glutes, hamstring/extensors → pelvis & spine not supported → prevent long line at the top: squeeze your glutes and engage your core
3️⃣ overextension during pull up: only bent your elbow
