Ever feel like your breathing is shallow? Meet Dirga Pranayama, also known as the "Three-Part Breath." It’s one of the most calming and grounding tools you can use to reset your nervous system.
Here is how to break it down:
1️⃣ Part 1: The Belly – Inhale deeply and feel your abdomen expand like a balloon.
2️⃣ Part 2: The Ribcage – Continue the inhale, feeling your ribcage expand outward to the sides.
3️⃣ Part 3: The Chest – Finish the inhale by filling the upper chest all the way to the collarbones.
The Release: Exhale slowly in reverse—emptying the chest, then the ribs, and finally drawing the navel back toward the spine.
This practice is perfect for calming pre-race jitters, winding down after a long day, or centering yourself before stepping onto the yoga mat.
