Belmont Lions Vs United APAC

A great Saturday and a nail biting match. United APAC won the toss and elected to bat.

With a new young team Belmont Lions struggled to get the scoring rate down with both experienced and new bowlers going for runs. United APAC set a mammoth target of 202 in 25 overs.

In return Lions started off losing the first wicket. With so much of burden on the shoulders Shafiqul Islam and Ifthikar Ahmad took over thr responsibility 73 run partnership for second week followed by another 55 run partnership between shafiqul and Nikhil.

Wirh sudden loss of 3 wickets caused a bit of panic. However Althaf Basha , Vaidy , Shiva and the tail saw Belmont lions across the line chasing an impossible target ( under hot humid conditions )
of 202.

That’s what club cricket is all about. We don’t need a team of super heroes. Anyone can be heroes in Belmont Lions

A great opportunity and honour to play the Thailand National Team today at Kelab Aman

Thailand Team won the toss and put Belmont Lions to bat first. Belmont lions had a complete batting failure losing all wickets for 73 runs.

Belmont in return had an equally good bowling start courtesy Mervinder Singh who bowled an excellent spell and picked up 3 opening wickets supported by Tamil Selvan who bowled a tight spell picking 2 wickets.

Thailand struggled at 6 wickets for 50 runs on the board but the tail Enders from Thailand team to cross the line in 17.2 overs with 7 wickets down.

A great team effort and good all round cricket. And lots to learn.

Super Sunday as Lions enter the semis. 😍😍😍

Kuala Lumpur Cricket Club Vs Belmont Lions

Back to back weekend match and a key match to cement a semi final spot.

After losing the toss Lions were put to bowl. The new ball bowlers bowled an excellent display of pace bowling picking one wickets between Viswa , Tamil , Unni and Gopi.

Spinners also bowled an excellent line and length with occasional loose balls which enabled KLCC to post a score of 149 in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. Special mention to Fetri picking up 2 wickets for 29 In his 4 overs.

In return the Lions chased the target in 14.5 overs. Back to back good innings by Appu Rajkumar Rajendran and Norwira.

Second game of the Super 8s against a strong team. Back after the loss the Lions played the best game of the tournament recording the highest ever score of the KC series.

The Legend continues Norwira the man of the match scoring 110 off 53 balls and taking 4 wickets. Equally support by Fetri scoring 63 runs off 32 balls. Appu Rajkumar Rajendran started the attack with a 19 ball 44. Nothing went wrong for Belmont Lions scoring 241 for 3 in 20 overs.

In return Rising stars started good with Shahul Hameed counter attacking but their innings ended at 85 runs all out. Both Wira and Fetri picked 4 wickets each at an unbelievable economy rate.

One more match for a semi final spot. Lions go positive for their next match tomorrow

The first of the super 8s in KC Series started with a losing note . Belmont Lions Vs SFI Panthers

Lions won the toss and elected to bat. The pace bowlers of SFI bowled a very tight and disciplined like and length with pace using the new ball. Lions scored just 37 runs in power play.

Subsequently after the slow start the other batsmen couldn’t push the scoring rate as they kept losing wickets regukarly.

The last 5 overs were also bad with Lions scoring just 34 runs out of 30 balls.

Batting effort Overall 30 runs short.

SFI in return had a solid start with 60 runs in power play. Belmont new ball bowlers were unable to control the onslaught and couldn’t find the line and length at all and SFI Panthers successfully chased the target in 17th over.

Good eyes opener for the Lions after being complacent and over confident with back to back 3 wins. We have 2 more games and hope the Lions will redeem their lost territory 😉
