We’ve had a few guests reach out after seeing recent news about events in mainland Mexico, so we wanted to share a quick, on-the-ground update.

Cozumel is an island community, physically separate from the mainland, and historically insulated from the situations making headlines elsewhere. While there was a broad, precautionary alert issued at the state level this week, conditions on Cozumel remain calm and normal.

Tourist areas, dive operations, and beaches remain peaceful and operating as usual. Our team lives and works here, we’re in close contact with local authorities, and we’re monitoring things in real time—not from headlines.

Cozumel continues to be one of the safest destinations in the Caribbean, and we look forward to welcoming you to the same relaxed, beautiful island you’ve been dreaming about.

In Loving Memory of INSTRUCTOR LORENA GRIS

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend, LORENA GRIS.

She left us on Sunday, September 21, after a period of underlying health challenges, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love.

Lore touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and friendship will remain in our hearts forever.

A memorial service to celebrate Lore’s life will take place today at 6 p.m. at Funeraria San Jose, Isla Cozumel.

Diving was one of the great joys of her life, and she shared it with such generosity and care. May she rest in peace, and may we all carry forward the light she brought into our lives.

For the MANY diving friends of Lonnie: Roger Starett writes: “We are planning a Memorial Dive for Lonnie on March 1, 2026. This will mark the one year anniversary of losing our dear brother.
So many of us met Lonnie in Cozumel. I met him there years ago. His smile and caring spirit drew countless people together who became lifelong friends. Lonnie was scheduled to be in Cozumel at this time this year but was unable to attend due to his illness. We will remember our dear friend as we bury a memorial plaque honoring him.
If you are planning a Cozumel dive drip in 2026 and will be there on March 1, reach out to Roger Starett to coordinate dives.”
Roger continues “I will think of my friend every time I dive in Cozumel. Join me in honoring “The Senator”, our friend, and a diving legend!”
