This was a very special group of 6 people that we took to Punta Sur EcoPark recently, as a pre-arranged private tour, which was by far the most fun I've personally had on ANY tour so far! After boarding my flight to Cozumel while connecting through Dallas, I met the two Linda's and their combined 4 children in tow, heading down for a well-deserved vacation on their first ever trip to Cozumel, coming from the St. Louis area.

On their last full day in Cozumel, myself and our two best guides at Beach Bum Bikes had the privilege of guiding this group of very cool and very fun people through Punta Sur on our exclusive Pedego electric bicycles. After the first half of the week rained a lot off and on, we got lucky after the early morning clouds parted and gave way to sunshine, giving all of us the best day of weather all week. The park was very busy that day, with multiple caravans of jeeps and dune buggies along with large buses causing actual traffic in paradise, all bringing in large groups of tourists off the cruise ships mostly. These large groups can range anywhere from 20 to 100 people, and typically follow a very rigidly structured schedule for each stop along the way. Because we had a small group on a private tour, with a grand total of 9 people on electric bikes, our guests never had to worry about keeping up with a big group or not having enough time at some of the awesome stops along the way, such as the crocodile lagoon. We simply waited patiently for a few minutes at the entrance as a group of 50-plus jeepers were being herded back into their vehicles, and then we were able to take our sweet time trying to spot the crocs and tropical birds in the lagoon.

It's usually about this point after our first real stop along the way that our guests begin to realize what is quite possibly THE greatest benefit of taking a tour with Beach Bum Bikes- which is simply that because we keep all of our tour groups very small and sometimes private, we do NOT follow a rigid schedule during the tour. Whatever our guests want to do we will accommodate, within reason of course, as this is THEIR time to enjoy this little slice of paradise on the island. Because of this they were able to spend more time or less time wherever they pleased, we stopped or skipped a stop at whatever appealed to them, and never did we feel the need to rush.

Perhaps the best illustration of the benefits of an e-bike eco tour can be seen in the photos here where there were a couple dozen dune buggies parked on either side of the road, and instead of having to wait for them to move on, we were able to simply ride right between them and leave them in our dust! If a certain spot was really busy, we just keep going to the next spot that's not busy, and plan to hit the spot we passed by on the return trip. Other times when we actually hit traffic from the dozens of jeeps and buggies in caravan down the road, we were able to simply pass them by in places where they had no room to go anywhere. The looks on the faces of the people sitting in those jeeps in that traffic, staring at us as we zipped by them on our e-bikes, was absolutely priceless! It's this incredible flexibility, in addition to riding some very cool electric bikes, that sets apart Beach Bum Bikes tours as the best from all the rest!

Thanks again Linda's for joining us on an awesome ride at Punta Sur and I hope to see you all again very soon!

Parallel to the main road, the east side road has recently been designated as a bike/scooter only road, though you do have to watch for errant tourists as you do anywhere else on the island. For about 14 miles due north this dedicated bike road hugs the coastline, affording riders a constant vista of raw nature at its very best.

White-sand beaches, gin-clear waters in shades of bright turquoise and deep blues, stunning rock formations that spray mist from the ocean as the waves crash, with a variety of coastal wildlife are all right there next to you as you cruise along effortlessly on a Pedego Electric Bicycle.

The hardest part of your ride here? Just keeping your eyes on the road ahead.
Caution- Unavoidable scenic distractions ahead. Wipe-outs possible.

Jaw-dropping incredible. Life-changing visual experience. New meaning of perfect. On the Bucket List's bucket list. No, you're not dead, yet.

Pick your cliché, but let the scenery do the talking.

Enjoying Paradise on a Pedego!
