Have you ever visited Stingray City at El Cielo?

El Cielo is one of those magical places in Cozumel where the water seems almost unreal — crystal clear, shallow, and impossibly turquoise.
And beneath the surface, there is another world. Friendly stingrays glide across the white sandy bottom and often come close to the dive boats that stop here for a surface interval between dives.

Angels of the Night! 🌙🐠

Cozumel at night has its own kind of beauty. When the sun goes down, the reef changes — familiar places look completely different, and even familiar faces seem a little more mysterious.

Photographing a nurse shark resting peacefully on the sand isn’t such a difficult task. The main thing is to approach slowly and calmly, without sudden movements, so you don’t scare her away.
Photographing a nurse shark in motion is a completely different challenge.
Despite their famously calm and laid-back nature, once a nurse shark decides to swim away, there’s really no point trying to chase her. And a photo of a shark disappearing into the distance, tail first, isn’t exactly the shot we’re looking for. 😄

The real opportunity comes when you catch that perfect moment — when she lifts off from the sand and starts swimming, or even better, when she swims directly toward you.
A shark in motion is incredibly beautiful. Millions of years of evolution have shaped her body and movement into something almost perfect — effortless, powerful, and graceful at the same time.

Take a close look at how this nurse shark breathes.

With powerful movements of its mouth and gill muscles, it pumps water across its gills, extracting the oxygen it needs.

There was once a widespread belief that sharks had to keep swimming constantly or they would suffocate. But that isn’t true for all sharks. Nurse sharks are a perfect example: they can actively pump water over their gills while resting peacefully on the bottom.

So while she may look like she’s doing absolutely nothing… she’s actually breathing right in front of us. 😊🦈

Look up — and you’ll see boats floating through the clouds of our blue sky. ☁️⛵️
Sometimes underwater, it feels as if the ocean and the sky have traded places. The surface becomes another world above us, and the boats seem to fly through it.
I wonder… do fish enjoy watching the white clouds too? 😊🐠💙

Flying along a wall that disappears into the blue abyss, riding the current, is a special kind of pleasure — especially when you’re an experienced diver.

Being able to take photos and shoot video at the same time, while drifting effortlessly with the current, is a skill that takes practice.
