Tonight I lie down one last time as Scorpion01. Thoughts of great successes and a few shortfalls run through my mind. The one common theme is that win or lose, we did it together. We laughed and we cried… together.

Tomorrow, Maj Paul Henri takes the reins. He’s the right officer for the job, at the right time. Scorpions, take care of Maj Henri the way you’ve taken care of me.

It was truly THE singular honor of my career to serve you and TeamXL the last two years.

🦂For those out there who watch the Scorpions on Facebook, we are doing alright. The power is back on at Laughlin and a vast majority of people have running water. The recovery will take some time as we assess the damage caused by power surges and frozen/busted pipes. As for the Scorpions, we had already been putting the hours in outside because prior to the weather setting in, a contractor digging on base cut 3,600 pairs of cable. The Scorpions and our Cable Dawg brothers sprung into action! These days 99.9% of cable work is contracted to local companies. While this is tough, slow going recovery, it is AWESOME war-time readiness training for our airmen who only get to do this work down range... unless someone cuts a massive cable and then it’s all hands on deck! If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like underneath those covers that say “Communications”... here you go! 🦂

Only 1% of the base can be named an IG Superior Performer during inspections... and in true Scorpion fashion the 47 CS had two! That’s 2 of 29 total... Congrats Eddie and LT!! Scorpions DOMINATE!!!!!

Congratulations to the 47 CS for winning the Lt Gen Harold W. Grant Award as AETC’s best small communications squadron. The award includes squadrons up to 124 members. So, with 52 strong (and multiple deployed) these Scorpions are definitely punching above their weight class!

If you haven’t been following this heartwarming story then I urge you to check it out. This is what makes Laughlin AFB and our Del Rio hosts special. In 23-years, I have never been in a community that comes together like Del Rio, like this. Looking through the Del Rio Community Spotlight page there are constant posts about found wallets or ATM cards left in machines. I hope more cities across this great country take note. Well done “Four Horsemen.”
