Behind the scenes at Baja Horse Experiences! 🐴✨

Today was a "school day" for the herd. When we don't have guest riders, Donna and Antonio are hard at work exercising and sharpening the horses' training so they stay safe, responsive, and ready for your next adventure!

Days like today are also for running errands! Donna and Antonio headed out to haul back a fresh supply of hay and grain this morning. We are so incredibly grateful for every single guest who rides with us—your support directly funds the feed, amazing barn staff, and daily care that keeps our rescue program running. We couldn't do it without you! 🌾❤️

✨ A perfect Saturday at Baja Horse Experiences! ✨

We loved hosting our latest group of riders (including two awesome kiddos!). Donna kicked things off with an arena lesson alongside Antonio and Tony, where everyone mastered the basics: steering, stopping, backing up, and even conquering some practice obstacles!

Confidence levels: 💯! From there, they followed Antonio up the hill to soak in those incredible countryside views.

🌟 Back in the Saddle after 30 Years! 🌟

There is nothing quite like the feeling of overcoming a hurdle and reconnecting with the joy of riding. 🐴✨

We are so incredibly proud of Lori, who joined us yesterday for her first ride in 30 years!
To make sure she felt completely comfortable in the saddle, Donna started her off with some arena work, practicing the essentials:

• Stopping, going, and turning both ways 🔄
• Navigating trail obstacles 🪵
• Figure-8s and serpentines 🐍

Once Lori and her trusty partner Chappy were totally in sync, they headed out of the arena for a beautiful, scenic trail ride up by the cross above our arena, and around the hill. Lori did absolutely fantastic, and Chappy did what he does best—taking wonderful care of his rider every step of the way. ❤️

Whether it’s been 30 days or 30 years since you last held the reins, our patient horses and supportive environment are here to help you rediscover your equestrian stride.

Here is the map tracking data from today’s training session at Baja Horse Experiences!

Our rides and training sessions are tracked using specialized equestrian GPS technology. This allows us to monitor our horses' workloads, track conditioning, and visually analyze specific exercises with our students.

In this particular session, Donna was working closely with our riding student on mastering their posting trot skills and nailing smooth transitions. By mapping the speed and gait data, we can see exactly where the work happened:

💚• Green tracks: The student establishing a relaxed, purposeful walk and allowing the horse to cool down.

💛• Yellow tracks: The student moving up into the trot, practicing their posting rhythm, finding their balance, and transitioning smoothly back to a walk.

Visualizing rides like this is an incredible tool for both horse and rider development. Great job to our student on some fantastic transition work!⭐️
