Day One:

Ensenada to San Quentin

The day was cloudy with nice cool temps. It never rained.

20 or so road miles out of town

Dirt road to two track back out to the coast.

Sections of single track.

Beach riding!!!!!

Deep sand riding.

More single track along the cliffs with consequences if you got out of the line.

Lunch @ Pirates Cove Restaurant in Camalu.

Two track on cobble along coastline followed by a Long Beach run (10+ miles).

Two track into town with a sweet bunch of hill climbing up an extinct volcano. It had been 30+ years since I hill climbed back in Mojave, CA. Man do I miss the rush!

Our gear did not disappoint. I’m loving my F5 helmet with Edge goggles. Light and well ventilated - and great protection.

Our are wonderfully capable tools for this mission.

Well we are off to another Baja Adventure with

We flew into San Diego a day ahead and what a better way to spend a free day than at the zoo!

I’d never been and we enjoyed viewing all sorts for wildlife.

Good friends Frank and Eric met us in San Diego and we crossed the border to Ensenada. Today we ride!

Sorry no pictures, did not stop much!

I’m one of the slowest racers, these guys and gals are fast! That being said:

Averaged 48.8 MPH. (4) stops.

1. Helped a rider out that crashed hard.

2. Nature called.

Not a stop but wasted some time finding the checkpoint at White Mountain
Which was literally right in front of me!!!!I didn't need gas on the first time through I probably wasted a minute!

3. Stopped in White Mountain on my way back from Golovin to fill my main tank.

Thank you to Bering Sea Lions for the fuel and the locals for pumping it!!!!

4. Nature called (again).

I didn’t have anything to drink since 10:30 AM. My start time was roughly 12:20 PM. I finished at about 4:04 PM (one of the last riders).

For 90% of the race we great visibility, once we hit Cape Nome on the return sea fog had rolled in and it was flat light all way into town. I had to slow down to about 35 mph.

This was a successful mission I did it not crash!

I can’t stress enough how much the volunteers mean to an event like this.

Thank you!!!

Thank you also to my sponsors:

Team 15, rider 15A is headed to the Board of Trade for the awards ceremony!

Here’s hoping the sun shines tomorrow!

Man it was a great ride out to Topkok and back to test out my Polaris 600 cross country this afternoon.

Juts a month ago I was struggling on these last 40 miles after turning back to help a fellow rider whose snow machine stopped running just out of White Mountain. I was physically and mentally exhausted.

Today was exactly opposite with bright skies, a loose trail with no sharp edges and little wind. Optimal conditions.

And check out that view!

Thank you to the Bering Sea Lions Club and all the local volunteers for your hard work so we can all race!

Thank you Polaris Racing and my family for this time away.

Welcome to the 2026 Nome Golovin snowmachine racer meeting!

This race is sponsored and hosted by the Bering Sea Lions Club and of course many local volunteers.

THANK YOU!

Temps are nice (positive single digits) and it isn’t blowing sideways, hopefully the sun will shine too!

39 racers signed up. I’m going to run the elder class which is a fancy name for fast racers over 45 years old! There’s a lot of great racers in this class, fast locals that I hope to learn a thing or two from! I’m in it to finish as it’s my first go at it.

The sea ice is back in Nome and on Golovin Bay. There is way more snow than a month ago. Will spend tomorrow wrenching and going on a small ride, at least to safety and back if not to White Mountain.

Thank you to our sponsors

Excited to run!

From the trail! Had to stop short in Golovan due to a ground blizzard and open water in Golovan Bay. Please read on.
