What an incredible honor is has been to deliver a keynote speech and workshop on storytelling as a form of advocacy for Fulbright alum in Istanbul, Turkey! 🇹🇷
Through a partnership with the U.S. Department of State, Cultural Vistas and their Muskie Professional Development Program, I shared a framework and tools that can be leveraged for leaders to articulate their experiences, visions and goals for an ever changing world. Many participants came from countries where there are active wars, including Ukraine and Russia, in addition to countries where tensions may be high, including Armenia and Azerbaijan. Needless to say, one of my goals was to show we need to be better storytellers in order to share the realities of people who may be silenced or supressed, and to use these stories to build partnerships as global citizens.
Thank you to the team who brought me on board for this event, including Sam Carruthers, Holly Harris, Ross Kaufman, and Priya Baumann, and for allowing me to grow as well in my own understanding of the complex realities of an interconnected world.
On a personal note, it was also such a treat to be able to bring along my Mom to help out with some of the production of my content, and to enjoy the incredible views, people and culture of Turkey.
I’d like to also thank all of the Muskie Alums in attendance for leaning into the trainings and being vulnerable enough to try something new in the way that they may be sharing their personal experiences, challenges, and visions for a better tomorrow 🌍
